Communications Officer (Visual and Written Content Creation) At iMMAP

Background

The Communications Officer (Visual and Written Content Creation) is responsible for creating and curating high-quality visual and written content for iMMAP. This position requires the ability to collaborate with the Communications Team, maintain and enforce branding guidelines, and create visually appealing content for both local offices and HQ.

The Communications Officer (Visual and Written Content Creation) will also act as a communication focal point for the Global Surge Team and be able to quickly respond to any onset needs for content production related to surge deployments at iMMAP.

The Communications Officer (Visual and Written Content Creation) will work under the shared responsibility of the Global Comms and Outreach manager and of the Global Partnerships and Surge Coordinator, and will be part of a team of 5 based in Marseille, France.

Description of Duties

1- Be the content creator for iMMAP global comms department

➢Reach out to country, regional and global level offices to identify topics of interest.

➢ Develop and produce high-quality visual, digital and written content for iMMAP, including blog posts, presentations, infographics, videos, and other related media.

➢ Collaborate with the Communications Team to ensure that all content is consistent with iMMAP’s branding guidelines and standards.

➢ Create visually appealing content that is optimized for digital platforms.

➢ Research and stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in content creation.

2- Act as the surge department communication focal point

➢ Gather written and visual content, develop and share Global Surge newsletters, manage contact lists for these newsletters,

➢ Update fact sheets, reports, and the Global Surge section of the website as needed,

➢ Ensure all products such as reports, templates, and visibility items for the Global Surge team meet internal communication guidelines and branding.

➢ Provide input for the Global Surge section of the annual report,

➢ Provide training sessions and internal support on implementation of internal communication guidelines and iMMAP brand,

➢ Write accurate and compelling articles and success stories regarding surge deployments and the overall surge program,

➢ Develop social media posts about the global surge team and iMMAP deployments to share on iMMAP social media accounts,

3. Other duties as assigned by the communication and outreach manager

➢Support the global communication and outreach team in developing and implementing the global communication and outreach strategy.

Requirements

➢ Professional working proficiency (verbal and written) in English, another UN language would be a plus,

➢ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field from a recognized institution,

➢ At least three years of professional experience, prior experience with development or humanitarian organizations would be a plus,

➢ Previous experience managing social media platforms for organizations is a must, with knowledge of other social media tools such as hashtag generator, social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc,

➢ Good graphic design, video and photography and editing skills,

➢ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

➢ Good command of Adobe Creative software packages, including Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom,

➢ Ability to appropriately communicate (verbal, written and visual) information to technical and non-technical people,

➢ Well organized with strong attention to detail and strong coordination skills,

➢ Strategic and creative mindset,

➢ Very good understanding and use of social media platforms.

Functional Skills.

➢ Proficient writing skills in English and/or French. Proficiency in another UN language required, Arabic is an asset.

➢ Presents information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.

➢ Familiar with humanitarian and development issues and concepts.

➢ Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills

➢ Consultant’s fees scale: $ 3,000 USD – $ 4,000 USD.
