Are you passionate about how great design and audiovisual products can inspire social change? Are you an experienced graphic designer with a flair for video production and storytelling? Then read on!
In ActionAid we engage young people to learn about global social and environmental justice and we support youth activism and organizing for change through our Global Platforms network for youth-led activism. Using participatory and action-oriented learning, we design learning materials, coach young leaders and implement activities focused on social change.
We are looking for someone with a strong ability to turn our methodology, training materials and experiences of young people into user-friendly and engaging products. This could be designing an action planning card deck for climate justice, producing educational videos on feminism and equality or promotional social media content that increases engagement and participation in events and programs.
The tasks
The position is split between two AADK teams working with youth engagement in different ways:
1.Primarily supporting the Global Contact and Training team*: Developing content and learning materials for young people in Denmark to understand, discuss and engage with topics related to international development, inequality, and other global issues.* Tasks include;
Visual Learning Materials and videos
- Design and produce a number of innovative learning materials in cooperation with GC&T team—including visual elements, infographics, and other graphic assets. The material shall effectively communicate global issues in a way that resonates with young audiences and can be used in workshops with Danish youth and complement the video content and/or function as standalone materials, making complex topics relatable and understandable.
- Manage and support the development of impactful, engaging short videos to be used as learning materials for workshops with young people in Denmark
Collaboration and Partnerships
- Work closely with colleagues in GC&T and GP Secretariat, to identify and collect relevant stories e.g. on youth lead engagement and impact, that can be used for the learning materials.
- Continuously work with colleagues to design, edit, refine and develop the different formats for communicating the collected stories and explore new ways of engaging and sharing stories from the Global South, to expand and encourage engagement among young people in Denmark
**2.Primarily supporting the Global Platform Secretariat:**Supporting the development of creative materials that can make AADK’s youth work look great and translate/develop relevant information and products into accessible materials relevant for target-groups and audience across the Global Platform Network and among social movements, activists and grass-root organizations. Tasks include:
Graphic design and production
- General design, editing and development of communication products related to AADKs international work.
- Design merchandise for social and environmental justice.
- Transform learning materials and stories into engaging and accessible digital and physical products such as interactive workshop guides, playing card decks, reels etc.
Audiovisual content production
- Plan, shoot and edit short quality videos that promote campaigns and opportunities for learning, webinars and other digital events.
Design and develop Global Platform and MOVE learning materials, tools and products
- Support the team in transforming existing learning materials, toolboxes and manuals into graphically and easily accessible and useful materials and toolboxes, that can be rolled out and used across the network.
Your profile
- Proficiency in graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience in video production (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro or similar)
- Experience with educational content development, or a related field. Experience developing content that resonates with youth, ideally with an understanding of how to make complex topics relatable and accessible.
- Experience in content marketing and campaigns
- Experience in developing good quality digital and physical products
- Fluency in English.
- Multicultural Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in intercultural settings as well as networking and facilitation skills
- Good cultural understanding/sensitivity and the ability to build confidence and trust with partners.
It is considered a distinct advantage, if you have experience working with youth, particularly in educational or outreach contexts or if you have a background in social justice, environmental issues, or education. It is desired that you have knowledge of and experience with content marketing principles and using online Ads platforms to develop and execute campaigns as well as experience with intercultural communication and designing content for diverse audiences. Fluency in French, Spanish, Arabic or Danish is an advantage.
We offer
A fixed-term project contract for 11 months with 37 working hours/week and approximately 3-4 weeks of travel; duty station in one of AADK’s main partner countries (outside Denmark) for which you must hold a valid work permit to; a comprehensive compensation package with an obligatory pension scheme; flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance between private- family- and work-life is possible.
