Community Engagement Manager At Lifting Hands International

Lifting Hands International is looking for a Community Engagement Manager to start in June 2022 in Serres, Greece with a minimum six-month commitment.

About Us

Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.

Role Profile

The Community Engagement (CE) Manager oversees the Resident Volunteer Program, which provides residents of Serres Camp the opportunity to volunteer in LHI’s CFS, FFS, Arts & Rec, Education and Distribution programs, while promoting a culture of mutual learning, peer support, respect and inclusiveness.

Next to facilitating the support of LHI’s programs, the CE Manager engages residents and resident volunteers with skill-building activities that empower them to grow skill-sets and provides an additional space at LHI for psychosocial support.

We are looking for a candidate who can take the Resident Volunteer Program to the next level and can support volunteers in taking ownership in our programmes and empower them to plan, organize and implement their own activities, next to facilitating skill-building sessions to enable a space for continuous learning and personal development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and implementation of LHI’s Resident Volunteer Programme in close coordination with the Director of Human Resources;
  • Support resident volunteers in taking ownership in LHI programs and empower them to facilitate activities;
  • Conduct direct observation of resident volunteers’ engagement in programmes and schedule individual check-ins and group meetings for resident volunteers to gather feedback and provide support;
  • Design training materials and organize skill-building sessions for residents and resident volunteers;
  • Identify further development opportunities for resident volunteers with outside actors;
  • Ensure Monitoring and Evaluation of quantitative and qualitative program results, including development of data collection and monitoring tools;
  • Oversee the overall development while following the vision plan of LHI and adjusting structures to current situational needs and requests;

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience facilitating PSS activities and/or support community lead activities;
  • Previous experience working with refugees, forcibly displaced persons, or at-risk youth;
  • Previous experience implementing community engagement activities and programming
  • Ability to work under pressure in a volatile, stressful environment;
  • Excellent understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with youth and program participants;
  • Cross-cultural awareness, ability to adapt to a multicultural context and work cross-linguistically;
  • Confident and strong leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills and efficiency;
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing & communications skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GSuite;
  • Min. 23 years old

Desirable Criteria

  • Degree in international Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Knowledge of Greek, Arabic, Farsi, French and/or Kurdish.
  • Experience implementing skill / professional development activities and programming
  • EU/ international driving license.

Terms

  • Minimum commitment of 6 months
  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week working schedule
  • Free shared accommodation
  • Full week break after every 6 weeks of work
  • Monthly reimbursement (Starting from 350 euros per month)
