The starting salary package for this position is £37,428 GBP / approx. $47,407 USD including all allowances

About the role:

The Community Liaison Manager will report to the Technical Operations Manager (TOM). You will assist the Senior Management Team in country to ensure that MAG’s approach to community participation in mine action is integrated into the planning and implementation of programme activities. You will be responsible for the safe and effective management of all aspects of Community Liaison (CL) including non-technical surveys, explosive ordnance risk education, impact assessments and liaison for land release.

You willalso undertake the overall management, training, assessment and monitoring of CL field activities and processes, in line with internal, national and international standards, and explore growth or improvement opportunities with TOM, Country Director (CD), or other MAG managers as appropriate. Alongside this, the Community Liaison Manager will be expected to contribute to the design and development of planning and data gathering tools, contributing to information management systems, supporting the development of donor proposals, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment and working with the programme to enhance CL strategy. MAG’s CLM’s are essential to our life-saving work and this is a great opportunity to take a leading role in this area of our work. This role will be based in Battambang, with frequent travel and visits to the field in Ratanakiri Province.

About you:

You will have demonstrable experience working overseas in community and/or educational development activities. You will need significant experience of participatory research techniques and community-based approach in a working context and of conducting needs or risk assessments in order to design and implement appropriate interventions. Experience of conducting Non-Technical Surveys and impact assessment is highly desirable.

You will also be experienced in the monitoring and evaluation of development projects and in the design and delivery of formal or informal training and transfer of skills to others. You will also have excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate activities and projects in line with accountability principles. The postholder will have experience working independently for extended periods of time in “stand-alone” environments with minimal supervision.

About the Cambodia programme:

MAG’s Cambodia programme addresses the problems faced by mine-affected communities by providing efficient, effective and safe clearance of land. In Cambodia MAG undertakes minefield survey and clearance, EOD work (explosive ordnance disposal) and cluster munition clearance. This is supported and enhanced by MAG’s community liaison activities, including providing Risk Reduction Education (RRE) to the local population. In total, the programme employs more than 500 national staff, supported by a small team of international staff.
