Background

The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) will act as a bridge between the organization and the community, ensuring effective communication, fostering relationships, and facilitating community engagement in various projects and initiatives.

Description of Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and workshops to gather feedback and input.
  • Act as a point of contact for community members, addressing concerns, questions, and suggestions.

Communication:

  • Develop and distribute informational materials to the community about the organization’s projects and activities.
  • Ensure transparent and timely communication between the organization and the community.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to community groups and stakeholders.

Project Support:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of community-based projects.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of community engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure community perspectives are integrated into project plans.

Conflict Resolution:

  • Identify and address potential conflicts or issues between the community and the organization.
  • Mediate disputes and facilitate negotiations to reach amicable solutions.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Conduct surveys and gather data on community needs, preferences, and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of community interactions and engagement activities.
  • Prepare reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.

Capacity Building:

  • Organize and conduct training sessions for community members on relevant topics.
  • Empower community members to actively participate in decision-making processes.

Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in one of the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community engagement, liaison, or related roles.
  • Experience as a writer, editor and content producer/manager in international Journalism and/or public information roles, preferably in the Region;
  • Experience in digital communications and social media;
  • Experience in corporate writing and editing;
  • Experience in managing donor visibility;
  • Experience with media liaison;
  • Experience in humanitarian communications;
  • Experience working in the region and/or in an emergency setting an advantage;
  • Experience in working in other international organization will be an advantage; and,
  • Experience in working with state governmetal organizations local authorities.

Languages:

For this position, is required B2-C1 level English languages – B2-C1 level (intermediate-advanced level) and fluency in Ukrainian.

Other Requirements:

Required frequency travel to other regions of Ukraine and work flexible hours as needed.
