About Cesvi
Cesvi is a secular and independent association founded in Italy in 1985 that works for global solidarity and the ideal of social justice through humanitarian development actions. The very name CESVI, Cooperazione e Sviluppo (Cooperation and Development), expresses its philosophy of action, based on promoting the protagonism of its beneficiaries in favour of their own progress, so that international aid is not reduced to a temporary charitable action, but rather promotes authentic sustainable development of the most needy populations.
Cesvi in Venezuela
Since 2019, Cesvi has been working in Venezuela with initiatives in the field of protection of children, adolescents and women in highly vulnerable conditions, including survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation. As of 2021, Cesvi began implementing projects financed by the Country Humanitarian Fund in communities in Caracas.
During 2024-25, Cesvi will implement the project “Multisectoral humanitarian assistance to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable people in Venezuela” which aims to strengthen the availability of protection, primary health and humanitarian assistance services to the most vulnerable people and communities affected by the crisis. Cesvi will develop its activities in the State of Falcón, based in Coro, and with frequent trips to other municipalities.
To meet these objectives, it is necessary to form a high-level technical team capable of providing effective responses to the populations served during case management; to this end, Cesvi is looking for a Social Worker to investigate the social context, family structure and dynamics, economic situation and support networks available for the reintegration of adult migrant women victims of the crime of human trafficking and gender violence, and based on said investigations, supporting the development of the Personalized Intervention Plan and the reconstruction of the life project.
Objective of the position: Implement strategies with a focus on human rights, gender and child protection, adapted to the local reality of the communities in response to the protection needs identified in these areas, strengthening the formal and/or informal community structures present under a differential and intercultural approach. Supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of the community approaches of the project, as well as the training strategies of the different components of the project. Carrying out direct communication with community leaders and developing strategies for the entry, permanence and initial diagnosis of the communities.
Job Description:
At the technical implementation level:
- Carry out the community entry strategy and support the identification of risk and protection factors in the territory.
- Develop feedback spaces that allow for a community diagnosis of the territories where the project will be implemented
- Identify key actors within the communities for the safe entry of the CESVI technical team into the territories.
- Carry out community convening and coordination activities for the execution of the activities planned by CESVI for each component of the project.
- Develop and/or complement a community process for training and capacity building on identified topics according to the needs identified within the framework of the project, in close collaboration with the project protection team and the local counterpart, taking into account the needs and relations of gender, age and diversity in the community.
- Support the development and implementation of awareness-raising activities on the protection and defence of the human rights of women and children.
- Assist in the identification and planning of exit strategies and intervention plans, aimed at the beneficiary population, in the area of their competence.
- Accompany (with the community vision) the execution of activities planned in the project.
- Provide timely information on alerts associated with challenges and opportunities in the implementation of the component that affects the scope of the project indicators and objectives.
- Immediately inform the Project Coordinator and the Head of Mission on key issues for the safety and protection of beneficiaries, communities and the project team.
- Contribute to the risk register and proactively propose mitigation measures.
At the monitoring and follow-up level:
- Ensure the implementation and monitoring of training, empowerment and community strengthening activities with a view to the creation and maintenance of safe spaces in community centers and/or institutions.
- Prepare statistical and/or management reports in accordance with requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and final reports on the status of component implementation, within the timeframes outlined in the work plan.
- Support in the monitoring and follow-up of care and activities to ensure compliance with the program’s indicator goals.
- Maintain up-to-date reporting and verification tools associated with community mobilization activities, ensuring compliance with the principle of data protection.
Others:
- Support, in coordination with the rest of the project team, in the logistics and administration of activities.
- Support the preparation and review of informational material in the area of their competence.
- Participate in team and supervisory meetings.
- Participate in the training and experience exchange processes to which you are invited.
- Other functions assigned by your immediate superior and related to the nature of the position.
Essential attributes
Training :
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
Knowledge and experience:
- Minimum 2 years in similar positions and knowledge of GBV and/or child protection issues.
- Experience in the humanitarian field and/or in territories with complex contexts and limited resources
- Previous work with a population of children and adolescents.
Skills:
- Proactive and purposeful attitude.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a culturally diverse team.
- Ability to develop productive working relationships with colleagues, partners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
Preferred attributes
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Package (will be valued in technical test).
- Mastery of data collection tools.
The position is exclusively for Venezuelans or those with valid documentation to work in the country.
Conditions:
- Location: Venezuela State. Falcon, Coro
- Contract duration: 3 months with the possibility of renewal, includes three (3) months trial.
- Expected start date: 08/15/2024.
