Chemonics seeks interested and qualified individuals for the Community Nutrition Training Advisor position for the anticipated USAID-funded health programming in Bangladesh. The Community Nutrition opportunity will seek to improve nutrition outcomes for children under five, pregnant and new mothers, and adolescent girls. The key objectives include increasing the quality of community-based health and nutrition services, improving household nutrition and health behaviors, and enhancing leadership and governance for improved nutrition. Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership, oversight, management, and overall coordination of MOHFW national and subnational workforce development related to planning, budgeting, data use, and HRH management, and capacity building
- Integrate cross-cutting skills and lead the training approach for MOHFW and community health clinics to build community resilience and implement the National Nutrition Policy
- Determine the feasibility of implementing technology-based, interactive and transformative learning interventions into community clinics
- Provide technical oversight for the design, development, and implementation of the project nutrition quality assurance and improvement activities to maintain a consistent approach across all target areas and technical interventions
- Provide coordination of community nutrition technical activities and trainings, to identify and build the necessary technical skills and core competencies for the administrative and community health workforce
- Ensure comprehensive support to multi-sectoral partnerships and activities for improved maternal, infant, and young child programming
- Provide leadership in developing both strategies and partnerships to increase program coverage, visibility, and resource availability
- Ensure all program assistance is technically sound and appropriate for local context, and integrate innovative practices, emerging knowledge, and international best practices into training activities
- Identify challenges, obstacles, and difficulties affecting program implementation, develop strategies to solve those problems, and work with USAID and program staff as needed to implement those strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with partners, private providers, and other key stakeholders in nutrition at community, country, and international level
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in public health, nutrition, social sciences, clinical nursing, medicine or related field
- At least 15 years of professional experience strengthening health systems and or in health workforce development in Bangladesh through the lens of nutrition, reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health, and/or social and behavior change; particularly for low- and middle-income countries
- Experience overseeing technical quality of activities integrating nutrition into maternal and child health, family planning, and/or food security/livelihoods
- Experience working in Asia, experience working in Bangladesh preferred
- Excellent diplomacy skills and a proven ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including the U.S. government, the local government, and representatives of community organizations, NGOs, and the private sector
- An understanding of gender approaches in development
- Strong skills in data use and interpretation, and ability to adapt program activities based on continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with USAID, including knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, compliance, reporting requirements, and grant management
- Fluent English oral and written communication skills is required
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
