The appearance of large mixed migratory flows in Colombia due to the crisis in Venezuela requires a great comprehensive humanitarian response to meet the urgent needs of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, returnees, returned Colombians and host communities.DRC is currently seeking highly qualified personnel to work as a Community Promotion Officer at Barranquilla base.
General description of the position
Under the supervision of the Community Promotion Team Leader, the Community Promotion Officer, ensures the effective and professional implementation of the activities and objectives of Community Approach and Promotion in the field and office in accordance with the guidelines of the Economic Recovery programs (Monetary Transfers and Means of Life) and DRC’s general strategy, in close coordination with all programs, also supporting the Protection mainstreaming / Protection and Livelihood approach processes.
Responsibilities
- Support the efficient and effective implementation of the program at the field level.
- Contribute to the Community Approach strategy that allows targeting of project target people in assigned work areas.
- Support the Community Promotion Team Leader in the development and maintenance of networks and relationships with key actors (such as community leaders, government organizations, private foundations, among others) for the successful implementation of the Monetary Transfers and Livelihood projects.
- Identify allies and / or relevant actors for DRC in the work areas assigned for proper implementation of the programs.
- Participate in the implementation of activities for identification, registration, pre-verification, verification, post-distribution monitoring and enrollment of beneficiaries for DRC programs.
- Continuously monitor and document the needs of people of interest on the ground.
- Carry out the due referencing of the cases of special protection care detected during the Community Promotion activities, in accordance with the established protocols.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly / quarterly / annual reports, proposals and budgets for allies and donors.
- In coordination with the Team Leader, guarantee compliance with the goals and indicators established in the program (s) in which it has an active role.
- It will support the Protection team within the strategy of Community Promotion, Community Approach, communication with communities, dissemination of information, among others.
- Report to the Community Promotion Team Leader, incidents, delays or any other challenge or challenge for the implementation of activities.
- Participate and support in the preparation of informative material and key messages to the community.
- Other related activities that are necessary for the success of the program.
- Activities related to Safety and Health at Work.
Technical Experience and Competences
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian assistance / protection, social or community work, related to an NGO or other non-profit organization.
- Field experience and work with urban and / or rural, and / or indigenous communities in situations of vulnerability or exclusion.
- Experience and ability to interview people of all ages and backgrounds with high emotional impact case management; intercultural communication.
- Experience in alliance management and territory coordination.
- Knowledge and application of gender, ethnicity, age, environment and Protection approaches, as well as the rights and action without harm approach.
- Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in managing databases.
- Experience in the production of technical material (training material, protection tools, reports, documents, among others).
- Skills and experience in training and capacity building of inexperienced personnel.
- Experience with liability measures and compliance with donor requirements.
- Experience and capacity in priority management and deadline compliance.
Education
Relevant university degree (eg political science, law, international development, social work, psychology, human rights) or equivalent professional qualification.
