Conductor/a – Coatzacoalcos At Norwegian Refugee Council

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an International Non-Governmental Organization based in Oslo, Norway that works in more than 40 countries offering humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations. NRC has been responding to growing internal and external displacement in Central America and Mexico since 2015, focusing on the protection crisis and integrating legal assistance, education, shelter and infrastructure, water and sanitation, and livelihood interventions.

NRC is an organization with a high international reputation in humanitarian assistance and has been working in Latin America for more than 30 years, leading humanitarian action in many of the countries where it operates.

In Mexico, NRC has been collaborating with local partners since 2019 and is currently expanding its reach, initiating activities through direct implementation in the States of Veracruz, Coahuila and Mexico City, with more than 20 collaborators hired by NRC in Mexico, giving assistance to displaced people in the intervention areas of the country.

1. Objective

The purpose of the position is to be responsible for driving the vehicle assigned to transport NRC personnel, visitors, documents and materials to designated destinations when officially approved, ensuring the safety and protection of the people and property of the organization.

2. Main Responsibilities

Driving

  1. Drive the vehicle assigned to transport NRC personnel, visitors, documents and materials to destinations designated by the supervisor or fleet manager.
  2. Accompany NRC missions in cities where NRC projects are implemented.

Equipment and vehicle maintenance Assigned

  1. Support the registration of vehicle maintenance in accordance with the guidelines of the logistics formats and the Fleet administrator.
  2. Maintain permanent operation and report failures in ICT equipment at your own expense or on loan.
  3. Be responsible for the vehicle that will be assigned to you within the transfer of assets under your charge. Evidence, using the Logistics Manual formats, deliveries, reviews, failures, etc., and keep a record of fuel loads and maintenance.
  4. Maintain up-to-date vehicle inventory and designated communication tools and equipment
  5. Responsible for the loading and unloading of the materials transported, in order to avoid any damage or deterioration of the materials, as well as the vehicles.

Security

  1. Maintain fluid communication with the security area of ​​your trips according to HSS requirements.
  2. Act in accordance with the NRC’s logistics and safety guidelines regarding the handling of situations such as accidents, breakdowns or safety incidents.
  3. Keep your training updated in the NRC Security Standards and in those required to carry out your work, in the same way, meet the security requirements of the Staff designated by the NRC as appropriate.
  4. Coordinate and carry out logistical activities in the organization of missions and make security reports during trips.

Administrative Responsibilities

  1. Keep the trip record book (logbook) and fuel of the assigned vehicle and send the report with the respective supports to the Fleet Administrator no later than the 30th of each month.
  2. Issue reports on the vehicle fleet.
  3. Carry out document messaging and procedures, including other procedures with suppliers and payment of supplies, when required in your office.

Others

  1. Other tasks assigned by the supervisor in compliance with the objectives of the position.

3. Professional Competencies

Indispensable:

  • Media Education title completes mechanical academic training
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum three (3) years of proven experience in a similar responsibility.
  • Work experience as a driver in humanitarian aid contexts.
  • Proven knowledge of current traffic and transportation rules and regulations.
  • Ability to learn about safety standards and protocols.
  • Ability to drive all-terrain vehicles (4×4) in mountainous regions.
  • Knowledge of the context in the geographic work area.
  • Previous experience working in complex and changing contexts.

Desirable:

  • Have some experience in carrying out logistical and administrative procedures
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics or maintenance. (
  • Knowledge of using MS Office office utilities (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn about safety standards and protocols.
