We are looking for an exceptional candidate to play a key role in delivery our peacebuilding advisory work as part of the Conflict Hub at International Alert.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive and dynamic peacebuilding professional to provide essential support to the effective, efficient and quality delivery of peacebuilding advisory services with a range of international partners, agencies and donors on behalf of the Conflict Hub (CH). The post holder will be responsible for overseeing, designing and delivering peace and conflict analyses, training on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding issues directly as well as managing the work of experts. This role involves working closely with International Alert colleagues and partners to share learning on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding, including across key themes related to peace integration, climate and conflict, peace economies and gender. The successful candidate will have experience in effectively managing fast-paced projects, the proven ability to provide high quality and timely advice and experience with capacity development on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding issues.

The successful candidate will be based in any of the Countries where Alert has registered offices i.e; Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mali, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom

Duties and Responsibilities

Support with delivery of Conflict Sensitivity and Peacebuilding Helpdesk and Advisory Services

  • Work with Conflict Hub and GPU colleagues to establish and oversee research *teams conducting Peace and Conflict Analysis (onboarding research teams, setting learning questions, coordinating research development, management and validation meetings).
  • Work with conflict Hub and GPU colleagues, to provide conflict sensitivity advisory services (such as developing and delivering training packages, research and analysis, products and events), including on the GPU priority thematic areas of climate change and conflict, gender sensitivity and peace economies.
  • Develop and monitor the task tracker for service delivery.
  • Input into quality assurance and review of products and outputs of Helpdesk services.
  • Ensure the effective management of Helpdesk data in line with Alert’s data management and security policies and GDPR.
  • Track drawdown requests from consortium partners and donors and coordinating with relevant country and regional teams with GPU colleagues.

Managing Procurement of Services

  • Support the management of Alert’s Peacebuilding Experts’ Roster including coordinating applications, interview process and matching experts to opportunities.
  • Support the procurement of consultancy services including advertising consultancy opportunities, identification, vetting, contracting and onboarding of consultants in line with Alert’s Procurement Policy.

Admin and finance support to Helpdesk functions

  • Provide support drafting consultancy and partnership agreements with field-based consultants and partner organisations, based on project budgets and action plans, ensuring compliance with internal Alert policies and donor requirements and monitoring expenditure in accordance with the deliverables outlined in the contract, etc;
  • Collate information for and follow up on processing of monthly invoices with Finance Team colleagues, including invoices for consultants and supporting receipts.
  • Lead in logistics management for in country assignments.
  • Maintaining the SharePoint for all outstanding and pending invoices for all active commercial contracts under the Conflict Hub.
  • Support in developing detailed budgets for active and upcoming tasks and projects.

Programme development

  • Work with RD team to identify new partnership and funding opportunities.
  • Work with RD Team and finance team colleagues in developing budgets for proposals and commercial contracts.
  • Lead, as well as contribute to, the development and preparation of clear project proposals and concepts, including conceptualisation of new ideas which result in new funding, as part of the organisation’s current phase of strategic renewal.
  • Lead on development of project budgets and contribute to fundraising strategy and donor liaison.
  • Stay current on the discourse on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding discussions relevant to Alert’s priorities.

Reporting, monitoring, evaluation and learning

  • Support Conflict Hub in the development and delivery of learning events and internal induction and training packages.
  • Support with collating information for GPU Monthly Reporting.
  • Develop and track tools for Helpdesk task order management.
  • Coordinate regular team reflection on outcomes of advisory support services and contribute to organisational learning on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding.
