Consultancy for delivering face-to-face training: “Basic cash transfer skills for program staff” At Action against the Hambre España

Context of the work requested

CALP, with support from the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)-USAID is seeking certified trainers to deliver a face-to-face training session “Basic Cash Transfer Skills for Program Staff” on behalf of CALP to humanitarian practitioners from West and Central Africa and Chad. The training session will be organized in collaboration with the Cash Working Groups of Chad.

Specific task(s) of the consultancy

The consultant who will be recruited will work to deliver this training session during the month of May 2024 in Chad. The key activities of the consultancy are: supporting the planning and delivery of the face-to-face training session “Basic skills in cash transfers for program staff” . The consultant who will be recruited will have with him/her up to two co-facilitators who are candidates for certification that he/she will evaluate. The training session will be delivered in French.

During the consultancy, the trainer is expected to communicate regularly with the CALP team in West and Central Africa.

Key deliverables

During the consultation, the following results are expected:
a) A face-to-face training session delivered entirely in Chad in French for 5 days; this duration does not include the days of travel, preparation and reporting which are 3 days;
b) A co-facilitation feedback form for each certification candidate completed and sent to the Deputy regional representative of CALP;
c) A report produced with the co-facilitators.

Project schedule and duration

The training session must be delivered from June 3 to 7, 2024 . The training session is expected to begin on June 3, 2024, but planning will begin in May 2024. As such, the consultancy is expected to cover the period from May 20 to June 23, 2024. All activities of this consultancy (including the reporting and submission of invoices) should be completed no later than June 23, 2024.

Consultancy Management

This work is commissioned by the West Africa Regional Office and Action Against Hunger Center in Dakar, Senegal on behalf of the CALP Network. The Deputy regional representative of CALP for West and Central Africa will ensure the management and supervision of the consultant. Throughout the duration of the consultation, the following elements are the responsibility of the consultant:

  • The consultant’s medical insurance;
  • Entry visa to Chad and any other transit countries if necessary; ACF can facilitate obtaining visas if necessary but the costs are the responsibility of the consultant who will add them to his invoice;
  • The work laptop and other facilitation materials that the co-facilitator deems necessary.

The CALP Network will take care of international transportation (plane ticket, per diems, airport shuttle, visa, COVID test). As the training is jointly organized with the CWG of Chad, it will cover the consultant’s accommodation. However, for whatever reason the CWG of Chad will not be able to cover it, the CALP will cover it. During his/her stay, the consultant will take care of communication and local transportation outside training hours (driver, fuel, etc.).

The consultant will comply with travel and stay procedures at the Action Against Hunger office in Chad.

The service report must be written in French or English.

Payment schedule

Payment of 100% of the consultancy amount at the end of the training, after delivery of the training report and feedback forms to the co-facilitators. The consultant will include all training-related expenses that he/she covered as indicated in the point above “Consultancy Management”.

Essential profile of each consultant:

For this work, CALP is seeking the following expertise:

  • The consultant must be a certified CALP trainer to provide face-to-face training;
  • The consultant must have proven experience planning and delivering high quality training related to cash transfers;
  • The consultant should preferably have delivered the CALP “basic TM skills for program staff” face-to-face training at least once and be very familiar with the face-to-face material. -face;
  • Experience in organizing and delivering training of trainers would be an asset;
  • Able to deliver training in French;
  • Strong skills in interactive animation and a dynamic and adaptive teaching approach to guarantee learning adapted to the evolution of programming.
