Promediation is a French-based NGO specialized in conflict prevention and mitigation. It is apolitical and acts based on the humanitarian principles of independence and neutrality. Promediation implements, since July 2019, projects aiming at supporting the stabilization in Sinjar District and expected to benefit its whole population. Our methodology is based on mediation processes. Qualitative research and consultation activities aim at building up our program strategies and trustful relationships with stakeholders and partners from local to national level in order to facilitate dialogue initiatives and develop mutually agreed solutions for deconfliction.

Purpose

Promediation is looking to constitute a pool of analysts for short to long-term missions depending on the projects’ needs. The Analyst will work with the whole Promediation Iraq team under the supervision of the Programme Manager and Promediation HQ. He will support Promediation’s capacity to effectively implement its programming in Iraq by expanding its network among local stakeholders and the organization’s analytical capacities. Its support to qualitative research and mediation activities will be based on field investigation, open-source material, and regular contact with local interlocutors.

Duties

  • Support the analytical and programming process with all colleagues in the team.
  • Conduct field missions and develop Promediation’s network among local stakeholders.
  • Undertake research, analysis and drafting on products as directed by the Head of mission.
  • Identify relevant trends and new areas of focus adapted to the project’s objectives.
  • Contribute to internal and external briefings and presentations.

Experience & Skills

  • Higher education in international development or other relevant fields; or at least three years of experience in peacebuilding processes, conflict analysis, journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the context and dynamics related to disputed territories.
  • Ability to build a relationship of trust and confidence with interlocutors.
  • Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, Kurdish is an asset.
