TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR CONSULTANT

Position: Consultant for Relaunching of Micronutrient Initiative India Trust

Location: New Delhi

Duration: 11 Months (renewable based on performance and funding)

I. Background

Micronutrient Initiative India (MII) aims to combat malnutrition in India through strategic partnerships with the Government of India, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies. As part of our commitment to addressing this issue, we seek a dynamic individual to lead the process to revive and relaunch the MII Trust in India. This initiative will lay the groundwork for enhanced nutrition impact and long-term sustainability of our programs in India.

II. Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

  1. Revival and Relaunch of MII Trust
  2. Program Development, Fund Raising and Donor Relations
  3. Donor Relations and Reporting
    • Coordinate with the Corporate Services team in managing the due diligence process of MII Trust by Donors.
  • Support and coordinate the process of developing a comprehensive program and funding strategy to re-establish and re-launch the MII Trust.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including government agencies, CSR donors, NGOs, and international bodies, to introduce and relaunch MII Trust and its strategy in India.
  • In coordination with Regional Director and Steering committee – plan, review and implement the governing structure of MII Trust.
  • Development of high-quality concept notes aligned with the value proposition of CSR donors and program strategy of MII Trust
  • Proactively engage and make pitch to potential CSR Donors/HNI/ Family foundations and Philanthropies.
  • Keep the database updated on potential donors including CSR/HNI/Family foundations and Philanthropies. Develop a long-term donor engagement plan and initiate its implementation.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with potential donors.
  • Ensure timely and quality compliances including reporting to donors based on agreed milestones.
  • Establish the systems, mechanism and process for implementing and managing CSR Grants and projects.
  • Work closely with Corporate Services Team to establish robust HR, administrative and financial management systems in line with Donor requirements to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Represent MII Trust in close coordination with the Country Director of Nutrition International India and the Regional Director- Asia, at various forums, engaging with public, private, CSR Donors and non-governmental organizations.
  • Initiate and oversee events to raise awareness and promote the goals of MII Trust.
  • Coordinate with External Relations team to develop and implement a communications strategy to enhance MI Trust’s visibility and impact.
  • Monitor the progress of programs and ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive reports on project activities and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support impact evaluation of the programs and incorporate lessons learned into future planning.
  • In alignment with the growth of MII Trust, recruit and develop the appropriate team.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the MII Trust team.

III. Key Deliverables

  • Revive and relaunch of MII Trust – Programme and fund-raising strategies are developed, due diligence and compliance requirements are completed, branding & communications strategy and plans are developed.
  • Relevant strategies, guidelines, systems and processes are designed, tested and implemented for the effective functioning of MII Trust.
  • Domestic donor mapping completed, and a 3-years donor engagement plan is developed. Proactive and intentional engagement with CSR Donors, HNI and private Foundations and Philanthropies to build the creditability of MII Trust.
  • Low hanging opportunity project concept notes developed and submitted to CSR Donors, HNI and private Foundations and Philanthropies.
  • The governing structure of MII Trust is reviewed and appropriate changes are made.
  • Regular progress reports are prepared and shared with relevant colleagues.

IV. Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional degree in nutrition, public health, health management, international development, Public Administration, MBA, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience working with NGOs, CSR, or government agencies, with at least 7-8 years of experience in leadership roles. Having an experience of working in the field of nutrition & public health in India will be an added advantage.
  • Extensive experience in the areas of Corporate Fundraising/ Corporate Social Responsibility Fund, engaging with HNIs and philanthropists.
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience in managing teams and building capacity.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English; knowledge of other Indian languages is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs.

V. Reporting

The consultant will report to the Regional Director, Asia, Nutrition International and work closely with MII Trust’s Steering Committee.
