Background and Statement of Work (Tasks and responsibilities)

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is looking for a consultant to write a report that clearly articulates WWF-Myanmar’s work in one programmatic area. We are seeking to hire a writer to build the narrative by consolidating existing reports with more recent activities, to demonstrate the range of interventions and strategies undertaken over the last six years. The report would provide a snapshot of focus areas, such as capacity building, on-ground demonstrations and multi-actor engagement.

This report will be used for engagement with donors, academia and at international events to help position WWF’s efforts. The report will showcase the wealth of knowledge and tools developed, and demonstrate how these were used in practice.

The consultant will work very closely with one technical team to understand the background and journey of the programme, as well as with WWF-Myanmar’s Communications and Advocacy team to support with strategizing the messaging and structure of the report.

Outputs

· Draft structure of report, prepared after sessions with the technical team and the Communications and Advocacy team, and after reviewing the content of the four existing reports [4 days estimated]

· Initial 12-18 pages of copy, based on a consolidation of existing reports and sessions with the technical team to understand more recent work. Copy to include suggestions for layout, e.g. tables, diagrams, box-outs etc. [10-12 days estimated]

● Final version of report copy, incorporating edits received from WWF-Myanmar staff and relevant colleagues across the WWF network [4-6 days estimated]

Working relationship

● Regular contact with WWF-Myanmar’s technical team

● Regular contact with members of WWF-Myanmar’s Communications and Advocacy team

Expected Profile / Qualification and Expertise

· Proven track record of writing high calibre reports is essential

· Demonstrated experience working individually and meeting deadlines is essential

· Proficient English language skills are essential

· Experience writing reports focused on environmental programmes/issues is an advantage

· Experience writing reports for INGOs or environmental/conservation organizations is an advantage

· Knowledge of Myanmar is an advantage

Contract duration

July to August 2021

Terms and conditions of payment

On delivery of draft structure of report: 25% payment

On delivery of final version of report copy: 75% payment

Deadline for applications: Sunday, 18 July 2021

(Approximate timings: Contract awarded towards the end of July. Contractor to start work immediately and project to be completed by end of August.)
