Consultant – People Management Training: Video and Discussion Guide Redesign – Remote

Background:

Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within.

People with Possibility (PwP) is a neuroscience initiative that promotes four interactive practices. It is designed to help teams set clear expectations, demonstrate care, and build trusting and agile teams and managers. It also facilitates the creation of a safe space where team members can have courageous conversations. The training is seven sessions (two about neuroscience, four about the practices, and one for team agreements moving forward). The four practices are (promote well-being, have candid conversations, build ownership, make time to reflect, and adapt). The sessions can be facilitated by different users according to need where the group attending each session would watch two to three short videos and have a discussion after each video. People with Possibility (PwP) was launched in 2018 within Mercy Corps globally, as a result, over twenty-six country offices have got through or completed the seven sessions program.

Purpose / Project Description:

When receiving feedback about the program from different Mercy Corps team members around the globe, a question frequently emerged on why PwP did not introduce any examples from different Mercy Corps country offices representing team members. They have also noted that all of the presenters in the videos were white females from the US or UK. Additionally, all the content needs to be reviewed from a more inclusive lens, and any white supremacy language or colonial perspectives needs to be eliminated. As a result, there is a need to review and refresh the content, including the videos of PwP to have more diversity in voices represented as well as the inclusion of real on-ground examples from our program teams in MC country offices. This course must be representative, diverse, and more inclusive to keep the momentum and engagement of PwP in Mercy Corps offices globally.
