This position is recruited and contracted by Solidarités International on behalf of the hulo cooperative.
The Humanitarian Logistics Cooperative (also known as “hulo”) is the first humanitarian cooperative that connects stakeholders and pools resources to optimize logistics and the supply chain . Its objective is to increase the impact of humanitarian aid by strengthening links and solidarity between humanitarian logistics actors and improving performance through the pooling of logistics resources and expertise. and supply chain.

Hulo was created in June 2021, and today its permanent team is made up of around forty people, spread across 7 countries (our headquarters in Montreuil, and 6 operational countries). We anticipate significant growth in the coming months, as has been the case since the cooperative’s launch. We work dynamically to grow this cooperative and its impact, with daily challenges around innovation, structuring, and continuous improvement of our activity.
The Operations team is divided between field and headquarters. The intern will provide support to this entire team and will be supervised directly by the Operations Coordinator.
Solidarités International (SI) is one of the nine founding organizations of the hulo cooperative and has a close link with hulo activities. In this context, SI ensures the contractualization of certain positions and HR monitoring of employees attached to hulo.
In March 2024, the 14 member organizations of the hulo cooperative are Acted, Action contre la Faim, Bioport, the French Red Cross, Fleet Forum, Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion, Intersos, Médecins du Monde, Norwegian Refugee Council, Oxfam Intermón , Plan International, Première Urgence International, Solidarités International, and Welthungerhilfe.
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for nearly 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This 6-month internship within the hulo cooperative will allow you to contribute to an innovative project in the international solidarity sector, while deepening your understanding of the different operating modes of the numerous organizations participating in the cooperative’s shared initiatives. You will report to the Operations Coordinator and your main mission will be to assist his team.
Main objectives of the internship:
- Discover the different professions in the international solidarity sector.
- Understand the areas of expertise, intervention projects and operating methods at headquarters and in the field of several humanitarian organizations, with a view to potential future employment.
- Become autonomous in the management of different cross-functional projects on various themes.
Main tasks :
The tasks to be performed are transversal and therefore require autonomy, rigor and versatility. Knowledge, or at least a desire to understand the humanitarian environment and its constraints, is essential.
The cooperative is growing, so the tasks described in this announcement are likely to evolve depending on current projects and needs.
Under the supervision of the Operations Coordinator, the Operations Department Assistant will be in charge of 3 main areas:
1. Participate in the development of the activities of the Operations department
- Provide support for the various headquarters and field activities of the Operations department.
- Contribute to the implementation of shared initiatives in the field through occasional participation in the different stages of shared Calls for Tenders (collection of the needs of participating organizations, assistance with the organization of meetings, creation of databases, etc.) .
- Participate in Operations department meetings and ensure note-taking and reporting (use of One Note).
- Ensure reporting of field activities (writing the monthly Newsletter, creation of presentation materials, etc.).
- Participate in the harmonization of internal and external documents used by the Operations department.
2. Monitor the operational logistics of the hulo cooperative:
- Assist the Purchasing and Management Control Manager of hulo in monitoring operational logistics.
- Facilitate the purchasing processes carried out by Solidarités International on behalf of the hulo cooperative.
- Ensure monitoring of hulo purchases: creation of Internal Purchase Orders (BCI), communication with all relevant contacts, validation of purchases, monitoring of deliveries, verification of invoicing, archiving of corresponding documents, etc.
- Management of the hulo cooperative’s computer equipment (monitoring the state of the equipment, preparation of computers).
- Update the various logistical tools used by the hulo cooperative.
3. Support certain cross-functional and programmatic activities of the hulo cooperative:
- Provide occasional support to hulo’s “Business Analytics and Research” department and carry out data entry and analysis tasks.
- Contribute to the development of the cooperative’s digital solutions (such as the “Shared Resources” application or the “Transport by hulo” platform).
- Observe the writing of project proposals (depending on the schedule and the intern’s appetite).
YOUR PROFILE
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Autonomy, rigor and versatility.
- Training at bac +3 to 5 level (preferably focused on the management of humanitarian projects) or University Masters/Business School (awareness of humanitarianism and/or logistics would be appreciated).
- Computers: excellent command of the essential Office Pack tools (in particular Excel).
- International work experience preferred.
- Writing skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Real interest and motivation for associative work and the humanitarian environment.
- Critical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Power BI would be a plus.
IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS
- Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Clichy Town Hall metro station
- Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
- Bonus: 4.90 euros/hour
- The bonus is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence over the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
- Public transport covered at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
- Restaurant tickets at €8.90/effective day of training, with 60% participation from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
