Purpose of the Job

Working within the agreed steer from the steering group and members, the network coordinator will lead the repositioning of the KHG&C in the light of the changes in Oxfam, changes in governance and citizenship context, and Oxfam’s new GSF’. It will continue to be based on feminist principles in order to operate as a feminist, interconnected and diversified global network of practitioners on Governance and Citizenship from within and outside Oxfam. The achieve this ambition the coordinator will:

  1. Lead strategic positioning and participatory vision setting of the KHG&C network and ensure the influencing of strategic choices and actions through knowledge internally and externally. At the outset, this will include a process to reposition and reframe the vision and design of the knowledge hub, its organizational model, ways of working, and business model in the Oxfam diversified network, together with the network.
  2. Drive the strategic planning for the knowledge and learning agenda on Governance & Citizenship based on a continued political analysis and participatory sense-making by the network, for evidence-learning based decision-making**.**
  3. Foster the development and connections of internal and external networks and relationships that build on the richness of the diversity of knowledge and experience and where practitioners/users take the lead
  4. Manage the human and financial resources of the KHG&C to ensure the delivery of the KHG&C ambition and it’s the financial sustainability and accountability

Key responsibilities

  1. Strategic positioning and vision
  • Position the vision and contribution of the KHG&C towards fulfilling the aspiration to be a knowledge based organization, in alignment with the Global Strategic Framework and influencing of actions and decisions through knowledge internally and externally
  • Develops strategies and mechanisms for the strategic use of the knowledge and learning from the KHG&C for better decision-making, strategizing, and programmatic quality and influencing approaches across the different themes and regions
  • Leads the process to redesign the KHG&C, developing a new co-lead model based on decolonizing approach, and user-centered learning for a diversified network, with the support of the Core Team, Transition Task force and Steering group
  1. Strategic knowledge and learning agenda on Governance and Citizenship
  • Leads the participatory development of the strategic vision and planning for knowledge and learning agenda(s) on Governance & Citizenship, with the KHG&C network; refining the specific thematic content, addressing identified strategic learning needs and emerging questions, areas for development and innovation for the ultimate purpose of using the knowledge generated for better strategies and impact
  • Nurtures a peer-to-peer vibrant learning network among Oxfam staff and partners that promote collective leadership and ownership of the learning processes by countries, regions, and partners
  • Advances the decolonization agenda with the design of effective and innovative approaches for across geographies using feminist and participatory approaches, including increased partners´ participation and leadership and co-creating solutions
  1. Internal and External Networking and Engagement
  • Develop and maintain effective stakeholder engagement strategy and relationships with internal and external actors to build strong and innovative partnerships, especially support external networks and builds alliances
  • Establishes linkages and relationships with decision-making bodies in Oxfam at different levels, and identify pathways for collaborations with other thematic and practice groups for taking action-implementation based on knowledge and in support of effective networked ways of working
  1. Management and Accountability
  • Is accountable for and manages the core team of the KHG&C and oversees team and network planning, budget and communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensures the knowledge curation and collaborative dissemination of learnings and communications products for specific internal and external audiences for strategic dissemination and use by Oxfam, partners and allies.
  • Develops and implements the fundraising strategy for the knowledge hub (internally and externally of Oxfam), including donor mapping and analysis, with the leadership and direct involvement of the Steering Group

What are we looking for?

Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience and achievements of the following areas:

  • Degree in relevant field of studies (development studies, political science, human rights, law, or other)
  • At least 10 years of professional working experience in IGNOs, NGOs, academia, multi-lateral organization, or other civil society organization whose mission focused on governance and citizenship
  • Proven experience in leading strategic transformation in a highly complex and mutli-stakeholder environment, with shared leadership and co-creation, demonstrating skills in critical and strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated understanding of / experience of delivering programmes and influencing work on governance & citizenship topics (to understand the user and to be able to communicate with the user in a way that helps them with immediate knowledge or strategy needs)
  • Experience in peer learning processes, how networks function, facilitation and design of reflection and learning processes and knowledge management
  • Connection with Knowledge Networks on governance and citizenship in the development and human rights sectors
  • Strong relationship building skills and convening skills; proactive networking and facilitation skills
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English. Other languages are an added value.

General conditions

Contract of employment: 1 year with intention to extend
