Coordination of Self-savings and credit Group/ Resilience Component At Catholic Relief Services

Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Auto Savings and Loan Communities (SILC or GAAP) within the resilience component, will adequately manage the implementation of activities related to the creation, training and monitoring of GAAP groups with participants from the various components of the PROSPERAMOS project. ; For this objective, she will work very closely with the coordination of each programmatic sector, especially the Livelihood Recovery Coordination, Agriculture and MPCA coordination.

Your management skills and knowledge will ensure that the CP continually works towards improving the impact of its programming on the Emergency program. He/She will coordinate, work jointly with MEAL team for field monitoring and data collection efforts, support capacity building of partners and serve as focal point for CRS among partners, local authorities as related to the Auto Savings and Loan Communities (SILC or GAAP).

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance in the administration, guidance and technical supervision of the PROSPERAMOS project in its Resilience component (Self-saving and credit groups) through the partners and considering the project cycle to ensure that the project design, implementation, Implementation and closure are in line with CRS quality principles and standards, donor guidelines and industry best practices.
  • In close collaboration with the Manager of Prosperamos, as well as technical advisors from SILC and Medios de Vida, review, adapt, create and implement a training plan for field agents and community leaders, according to the local context.
  • Advise and provide technical support to the GAAP coordinators of the project Implementing Partners to develop and lead meetings with key community leaders to ensure their support in the implementation of the SILC methodology
  • Guarantee the implementation of the technical and administrative activities of the PROSPERAMOS project (Self-saving and credit groups), ensuring compliance with best practices established by CRS, internal and donor policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate communication and activities between CRS, partner staff, and project participants related to GAAP interventions, including field visits by other CRS staff, donors, and the like.
  • Support the development and contribute to the implementation of strategies, standards, tools and best practices in project programming that effectively engage partners, donors and governments.
  • Contribute to promoting an intersectoral approach that integrates gender, the incorporation of protection in the resilience component of the PROSPERAMOS project.
  • Provide technical solutions to project teams and partners, remotely and on-site, for strategic planning and how to best apply standards, best practices, partnership principles, tools and Monitoring and Evaluation, helping to ensure high quality implementation in the GAAP and Business Development topic.
  • In coordination with implementing partners, support the organization and development of training events for technicians and producers in the area in financial services, business models and plans, and organizational strengthening.
  • Promote actions that ensure the protection and dignity of project participants, promoting gender actions to ensure that help through GAAP reaches the most vulnerable population (boys, girls, women, people with disabilities, older adults) in coordination with the protective equipment.
  • Adequately manage monitoring of budget execution for actions with GAAP, ensuring the appropriate use of resources, carrying out periodic budget reviews.
  • Organize and coordinate the establishment of DINER fairs so that the GAAP can acquire inputs directly from suppliers and learn about the different financial services options at the region level.
  • Support capacity building initiatives in GAAP programming and Business Development to staff and partners by assisting in agenda/curriculum development, conducting trainings and workshops, and coaching.
  • Considering a territorial development approach, it must promote strategic alliances for Partners that contribute to increasing the programmatic quality and sustainability of the GAAP that are formed in the project.
  • Document SILC project progress, lessons learned and good practices.
  • Support with the preparation of quarterly reports to inform the LACRO office, coordinating with partners for the generation of inputs.
  • It will establish links between GAAP and financial entities that provide financing options (Working Capital) under favorable conditions.
  • Work together with the MEAL coordinator in the follow-up and monitoring of field activities, including the registration of activities and beneficiaries within the COMMCARE platform.
  • Ensure the generation of quality inputs for the project’s periodic reports to the donor.
  • Coordinate the provision of any logistical and administrative support to staff and partners related to the project’s GAAP staff.

Background, Experience and Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, Industrial Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in relevant field required (Entrepreneurship incubation, business ideas).
  • Previous experience in development and microfinancing of community activities in rural and urban contexts, including areas of high social risk.
  • Experience in training groups at the community level.
  • Knowledge of GAAP methodology, preferred.
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations.
  • Valid driving license and experience driving 4×4 vehicles.
  • Experience managing project activities with partner organizations.
  • General knowledge about MEAL is required.
  • Experience in managing personnel and capabilities that lead to a learning environment.
  • Experience in using MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), Online Conference Applications, management information systems.
  • Additional experience can substitute for training.
