The Program

Australia Awards Indonesia (AAI) is managed by Coffey on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Australia Awards is an integral part of Australia’s development cooperation program with Indonesia and has enjoyed strong support from both governments for more than sixty years. Australia Awards addresses two key challenges: to fill a gap in the pool of individuals with the higher-level capacity to contribute to Indonesia’s development; and the need for a strong deep relationship based on mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia.

The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Public Diplomacy, the Coordinator, Communications and Public Diplomacy, is responsible for the coordination of promotional materials for Australia Awards Scholarships and Australia Awards’ subprogram activities, and ensuring all promotional materials comply with the Australia Awards and Australia Global Alumni branding guidelines. The role will also support the broader public diplomacy program of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Indonesia.

The Person

Due to a well earned promotion, our AAI team is looking for an experienced communications coordinator with a keen eye for visual design and layout and approximately five years experience in promotions, communications, media or public relations. You will be organised, motivated and have the ability to stay abreast of the current development issues and communications trends.

  • Minimum requirement of an undergraduate degree, preferably in communication, journalism, marketing, English, or a related communication field
  • Proven experience in coordinating and running successful promotional events for various stakeholders
  • An understanding of the Australian Higher Education Sector
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the emerging social media trends, platforms and applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage a workload involving competing deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple individuals
  • High-level presentation skills for one-on-one meetings and group meetings
  • Good report writing skills
  • High-level proficiency in spoken and written English and Indonesian
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
