Tdh :
Terre des hommes ( Tdh ) is the largest Swiss child welfare organization. Since 1960, Tdh has helped build a better future for poor children and their communities through innovative and sustainable solutions. Active in nearly 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement projects in the field that improve the daily lives of more than four million children and members of their communities, in the areas of health, protection and emergency. This commitment is financed by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.
Background :
Present since 1986, the delegation of Burkina Faso is the oldest in Tdh in Africa. It is also the most important delegation of the Foundation in budgetary terms. Through its 21 projects in 9 of the 13 regions of the country covering all of Tdh’s areas of intervention and the involvement of 313 employees, in 2021 it supported 3,116,596 beneficiaries. Based on the country’s priority needs, Tdh’s projects in Burkina Faso are currently structured around five programmatic departments: ( i ) Protection – Migration and Access to Justice ; ( ii ) Food Safety and Means of Existence; ( iii ) Health; ( iv ) Emergency and ( v ) Social Cohesion and Human Rights, variation of the Foundation’s Priority Programs and Expertises.
General responsibilities of the position :
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Resilience and Social Cohesion, the Coordinator of the Earth and Peace Consortium is responsible for ensuring the coordination and implementation of the Earth and Peace project, in connection with the focal points of partner organizations in the OKDB area ( Ouagadougou-Koudougou-Dédougou-Bobo Dioulasso ) specifically in the Boucle du Mouhoun regions, from the Center-West and Hauts-Bassins during the project period ( 40 months ).
The project is part of a Support Program for Human Development and Basic Social Services in the Ouagadougou-Koudougou-Dédougou-Bobo Dioulasso triangle of the European Union Delegation to Burkina Faso. This project focuses on social cohesion through activities to prevent and manage land disputes. Its general objective is to strengthen conflict management and justice systems at the local level and to contribute to achieving better planning and regulation of the shared use of natural resources ( land and pastoral ) in the regions of Boucle du Mouhoun, Center-West and Hauts-Bassins.
The Terre et Paix consortium is made up of Terre des hommes Lausanne ( en lead ) and the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue / HD ( Candidate ). INSUCO, an independent international design office, specializing in social science and sustainability, will act as a service provider.
The consortium will work on several aspects, namely ( i ) natural resource management in general: On the one hand, to support local authorities to diagnose the natural resources present on the territory and their uses, and, on the other hand, to organize dialogue on rules of use and sharing ; ( ii ) the promotion of peaceful transhumance on a local and regional scale, with the prevention and resolution of conflicts between users of natural resources through mediation mechanisms. It will also ensure that communication on transhumance and resource sharing issues between elected officials, representatives of local authorities and civil society and at national level be fluidized,allowing a better understanding of the respective difficulties encountered by the different actors ( OS1 ) ; ( iii ) support for local conflict resolution processes through the implementation of support measures ( infrastructure support ) and ( iv ) support for integration of young farmers and breeders in these municipalities ( OS2 ).
The coordinator of the Earth and Peace Consortium will have to ensure, with the support of the Coordinator of Resilience and Social Cohesion, coordination and implementation of the Earth and Peace project in conjunction with focal points of partner organizations, state partners and civil society, but also other organizations/programs intervening on this theme.
More specifically, the coordinator of the Earth and Peace consortium :
- It draws up the consortium’s annual work plans with clearly defined stages, in accordance with the activities planned within the results framework and according to the resources of the project, this in close collaboration with the focal points of partner NGOs.
- It plans, monitors and supervises the necessary activities in accordance with the consortium’s plans to achieve all of the project objectives.
- It monitors with the focal points to obtain the objectives and results of the project in accordance with the required quality standards and within the time allowed and in compliance with donor procedures.
- It ensures good collaboration and good communication with the technical and financial partners of the project, as well as state supervision.
- It guarantees good visibility to the project in the institutional landscape in Burkina Faso.

Profile :
- Training : Bac + 4 or Master in a sector related to development, humanitarian aid. Alternatively a Master in political science, international law, project management and management, monitoring and evaluation.
- Languages : Good command of French ( oral and written ), English an asset
- Experiences :
- Professional experience of at least 10 years, including four ( 4 ) years in NGOs on coordination or management positions.
- Experiences in the management of a project team.
- Confirmed experience in project cycle management, monitoring evaluation, financial management.
- Confirmed experience in networking and coordination with development / humanitarian actors.
- Experience in building the capacity of local NGOs.
- Skills & Miscellaneous knowledge :
- Excellent editorial skills.
- Good autonomy and ability to work under pressure.
- Synthetic capacity.
- Knowledge of Burkina Faso’s land governance analysis framework.
- Knowledge of the functioning of national institutions and partners.
- Knowledge of the functioning / expectations of donors ( in particular European Union ).
- Organizational awareness and management of priorities.
- Ability to work in a team and relational ease.
- Ability to perform representation functions and develop networks.
- Computer knowledge : Perfect control of IT tools ( Pack Office ).
Conditions offered :
- Expatriate contract under Swiss law
- Monthly gross salary 4,800 CHF – 5,600 CHF according to experience x13.36 ( + AVS retirement for Swiss candidate ).
