ECO Consult responds to the tender of the new GIZ project on Improved living conditions and psychosocial support in the Context of flight and displacement in South Sudan

Brief project description

The project objective of this new German technical cooperation project is: “The nutritional, economic and psychosocial living conditions of returnees, IDPs and members of host communities are improved”. The aim is to

1. increase the production, diversity and quality of food and to provide advice on improved nutrition,
2. implement education and qualification measures to improve the opportunities of young adults to generate income and strengthen their everyday resilience. Furthermore,
3. increase the well-being of local people through psychosocial offers in the context of violence, flight and lack of perspective.

You will contribute to Output 1: The capacities of smallholder households are strengthened in terms of agricultural production and nutrition are strengthened. Major activities:

• Provision of quality seeds, plants & inputs.
• Extension and training of smallholder households
• Nutritional counselling for mothers and other family and community members.

Fulltime job: 400 working days between January 2023 and October 2024.

Location: Based in Magwi

Tasks

• Analysis of partner institutions
• Coordination and implementation of training and advisory services in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry for smallholders (PHH, FFS)
• Coordination and delivery of training and extension to cooperatives (FBS,ToT)
• Coordinate the implementation of nutrition extension and awareness raising on hygiene practices
• Carry out, monitor and evaluate the implementation process of planned activities
• Regular exchange with the responsible staff of the GIZ project, as well as of the partner institutions
• Constant planning, control and monitoring of the short-term experts to be deployed
• Coordination of the implementation of an advisory service via e.g. radio messages on agricultural issues
• Coordination of the development of information brochures on agricultural topics

Qualification requirements

Education: University degree (diploma/master’s degree) in nutritional sciences, agriculture or a similarly relevant technical course of study

Language skills

• English, C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
• Arabic, C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;

General work experience :

• 15 years of professional experience in the agricultural or food sciences;

Specific work experience:

• 10 years of professional experience in tropical agriculture (animal and plant)
