Coordinator for implementation of activities as well as counselling and training in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) At ECO Consulting Group

ECO Consult responds to the tender of the new GIZ project on Improved living conditions and psychosocial support in the Context of flight and displacement in South Sudan

If you are an experienced expert on psychosocial care and mental health, experienced in violence and displacement situations, based in South Sudan, but you also have some international experience, this challenging position might be of high interest to you.

The project objective of this new German technical cooperation project is: “The nutritional, economic and psychosocial living conditions of returnees, IDPs and members of host communities are improved”. The aim is to

  1. increase the production, diversity and quality of food and to provide advice on improved nutrition,
  2. implement education and qualification measures to improve the opportunities of young adults to generate income and strengthen their everyday resilience. Furthermore,
  3. increase the well-being of local people through psychosocial offers in the context of violence, flight and lack of perspective.

You will contribute to Output 3: Governmental and non-governmental local actors have improved capacities to provide psychosocial support to IDPs, returnees and the vulnerable host population.

Fulltime job: 400 working days between January 2023 and October 2024.

Location: Based in Juba with extensive travel to Yei and Magwi

Tasks

  • Conduct stakeholder and needs assessments on MHPSS
  • Development and establishment of MHPSS guidelines in relation to referral to medical facilities
  • Develop and implement the planned training on MHPSS.
  • Identify and coordinate needs-based awareness-raising activities on psychosocial stigma
  • Development and implementation of a monitoring system on potential unintended negative effects and their mitigation measures
  • Implement, monitor and evaluate planned activities
  • Regular exchange with the responsible personnel of the GIZ project, as well as with the partner institutions
  • Constant planning, control and monitoring of the short-term experts to be deployed

Qualification Requirements

Education: University degree (Diplom/Master) in social sciences, social work, psychology, public health, political science or a similar field of study.

Language skills

  • English, C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • Arabic, C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;

General work experience :

  • 10 years of professional experience in the refugee sector
  • 2 years in another country than South Sudan (international context)

Specific work experience:

  • 5 years of professional experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial Psychosocial Support (MHPSS);
  • 2 years of experience in implementing training in the field of MHPSS.
