Present in Canada and in 76 countries, Médecins du Monde is a voluntary, independent and international movement that works in its country and abroad. Through innovative health programs and evidence-based advocacy, we empower marginalized people and communities to take action and claim their right to health while fighting for universal access to care .
Present in Haiti since 1996, MdM Canada implements humanitarian and development projects in the departments of Ouest, Nippes and Nord-Ouest. Its operations primarily target access to primary health care, sexual and reproductive rights and health, response to epidemics (cholera) and mental health.
OUR CHALLENGE
The RESPECT project is implemented by Médecins du Monde over a period of 5 years across 3 countries: Burkina Faso, Benin and Haiti. The project mainly targets adolescent girls and young women aged 10 to 24 in situations of vulnerability and marginalization, who have significant needs in terms of health rights and more specifically in relation to their sexual and reproductive rights and health. In collaboration with local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), parents, the community and medical staff in targeted regions, the project aims to change and evolve visions and attitudes in favor of sexual and reproductive health and rights ( SRHR) of adolescents and young people.
The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and monitoring of the RESPECT project implemented by Médecins du Monde Canada (MdM-C) in Haiti.
Under the supervision of the Head of Mission of Médecins du Monde Canada in Haiti, the holder of the position will ensure the quality and relevance of activities, the achievement of objectives, and the mobilization of human and material resources necessary for the proper operation of the project, partnerships and the reporting necessary for the project, while ensuring cohesion with partners in the execution of projects.
Your main tasks will be as follows (non-exhaustive and evolving list):
- Ensure the smooth running, planning and efficient programmatic management of the project in compliance with the rules and procedures of MdM-C and the donor;
- In collaboration with partners and logistics, finance and administration teams, participate in planning the human, material and financial resources of the project;
- With the support of his team, coordinate the collection and analysis of project monitoring data;
- Regularly carry out field monitoring missions (MdM-C implementation areas and bases);
- Coordinate and align project actions with the opinions of the thematic referents of the MdM-C team in Haiti, at headquarters and the project committees;
- Participate in the development and writing of new projects in collaboration with the Head of Mission;
- Participate in defining the long-term strategic and operational orientations of MdM-C in Haiti;
- Represent MdM-C at meetings or activities delegated by the Head of Mission;
- Ensure the participation of operational partners in the design, implementation and evaluation of projects and ensure compliance with the commitments made by MdM-C;
- Ensure with the team the development and writing of annual work plans (PTA), quarterly, half-yearly, annual and final project reports;
- Participate in meetings planned by donors or other project tables or platforms as well as advocacy and communication activities;
- Advise and support your team in solving problems and managing the people and property under their responsibility;
- Participate in the performance evaluation of your team, in order to promote their professional development and capacity building;
- Organize and lead coordination and governance meetings for the project in Haiti;
- Participate in overall project coordination meetings and various committees;
- Be responsible for planning and budgetary monitoring of the project in line with the activities;
- In collaboration with members of the finance team, participate in the development of financial reports and the project budget review exercise.
OUR OFFER
- Unaccompanied expatriate position based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
- 1 year renewable contract
- Entry into position planned for May 2024
- Remuneration according to the MdM Canada salary scale (from $63,750 to CA$86,250)
- Monthly expatriation allowances according to MdM Canada policy
- Rest period (R&R) according to MdM Canada policy
- 4 weeks of vacation per year
- Insurance (medical expenses, repatriation and welfare)
- Accommodation in individual apartment
YOUR PROFILE
- Postgraduate degree in management, public health, international development, social sciences or any other related training
- 5 years of experience in development or humanitarian field project management and 3 years in a similar position
- Experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights with rights defense and advocacy components an asset
- Experience working with young people and in Haiti an asset
- Availability for regular field missions
- Excellent writing skills in French, English an asset
- Knowledge of Haitian Creole an asset
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs
- Proven skills in planning, coordination and monitoring of projects, including budget monitoring
- Excellent skills in representation, communication, negotiation and diplomacy
- Great ability to prioritize, synthesize, adapt, live and work in a team and manage stress
- Recognized for your commitment, proactivity as well as your great sense of organization and humor
