Our organization, present in Burundi since 1962, seeks to coordinate a new program « Entrepreneurial Support to the Agricultural Sector » (SESA), for a contract of’expat 2 years renewable, one-e :

MISSION
The/The coordinator/rice coordinates the implementation of the SESA program within’a Consortium of seven Belgian and Burundian partner organizations. This programme is financed by the European Union’ (EU) to the tune of 9.5 million’euros for a period of 48 months. Its main objective is to provide Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with grants and a framework to strengthen the value chains around three sectors : cassava (main stream), poultry and vegetables (secondary streams). The programme targets in particular the provinces of Makamba and Rutana.
The/The programme coordinator/applicant works mainly in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, but regularly carries out multi-day missions in the provinces targeted by the programme.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure coordination and overall management of the SESA programme ;
- Create and maintain relations with other members of the Consortium, the’UE delegation, local authorities, sectoral ministries… ;
- Coordinate and supervise the technical and financial support services offered by the teams of the various partners to MSMEs in the three sectors covered by the programme ;
- To support teams and MSMEs in the creation and development of new products ;
- Ensure the management of the’ support fund for MSMEs through the implementation and the’use of technical and financial tools ;
- Promote the circular green economy within the three sectors ;
- Write reports of’activities of the program on the basis of reports provided by members of the Consortium.
PROFILE
- Master in industry, agribusiness, entrepreneurship, agronomy, economics or other equivalent degree ;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, including at least 5 years in an NGO in Africa and at least 3 years in the development of agricultural value chains ;
- Project management,’ team management, communication and relationship facilitation skills ;
- Knowledge of the procedures of the main donors and in particular of’UE ;
- Mastery of concepts : Theory of change, Results-based management and the project cycle ;
- Very good oral and editorial skills in French. Good written and oral knowledge of’english is an asset ;
- Experience working in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams ;
- Proficiency in computer tools (Word, Excel, Outlook..) and modern communication tools ;
- Driving license.
