Mission
Within the framework of MdM’s action in El Salvador, it will ensure the identification and implementation of projects and consortia in the country, as well as the search for their financing. You will be responsible for the general supervision of the programs in the country, coordinating and managing the human and material resources available to the organization, always framed in the MdM strategy and taking into account the regional work framework of the organization.

San Salvador, with frequent trips to other areas of the country.
Organization chart
Hierarchically and functionally, of the Coordination of the Americas Unit at the Madrid headquarters and at the technical-strategic level of the Regional Coordination of Mesoamerica.
Responsibilities
Representation, communication and positioning:
• Represent and maintain contact with the country’s authorities, other NGOs, international and national agencies and organizations, donors and authorities, ensuring that our actions are consistent with the policies, mission, principles and ethical values of Médicos del Mundo.
• Negotiate collaboration agreements and agreements between local authorities and Médicos del Mundo and with other associated organizations and/or actors.
• Promote and participate in coordination meetings with other humanitarian and/or development actors in the country
• Assume the spokesperson in the country, for external communication, agreeing on content and positioning with the headquarters.
Definition and planning of the action of Doctors of the World in El Salvador
• Implement the lines of intervention of Doctors of the World, adapting it to the variability of the context and the capacity of the organization and the Mesoamerican Strategy of MdM.
• Lead the identification and formulation of new projects in accordance with the MdM intervention framework in the region.
• Participate in the preparation of regional strategic and operational documents (Strategy for Mesoamerica, Intervention Models, POAs,…)
• Identify operational problems and risks by adapting the structure and making it flexible according to specific needs.
• Guarantee the adaptation, implementation and management of Doctors of the World projects in the areas of action.
• Coordinate the preparation and delivery of follow-up and final reports required by financial entities, as well as internal reports of Médicos del Mundo.
Project management:
• Supervise the good execution of ongoing projects, ensuring compliance and achievement of objectives
• Support and supervise the program and project coordinators, and their teams to guarantee the correct planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of activities, as well as the monitoring of indicators according to planning.
• Ensure the use, by the entire team, of the MdM project management and monitoring tool package.
Human resources management
• Supervise and manage national staff in accordance with MdM guidelines in the region and in coordination with the people development department, ensuring their integration and involvement.
• Support project coordination and ensure the good performance of MdM teams (selection processes, training, performance evaluation and monitoring of individual and team operational objectives).
• Supervise and track the capacity building of MdM teams in El Salvador.
• Ensure compliance with the code of conduct by the teams and activate the existing protection protocols in MdM when necessary.
Security
• Ensure compliance with the organization’s internal standards regarding security measures with special emphasis on extraordinary measures implemented in complex crisis situations, being the person most responsible for them.
• Participate in the development of risk matrices and development of contingency plans.
Emergency management
• Carry out active and permanent monitoring of possible emergencies in the country by participating in national monitoring groups.
• Support and coordinate with the head of the Americas unit and with the Emergency Unit in the strategic response to emergencies in the country.
Training
-Required: Preferably, Degree in Health Sciences or Social Sciences.
Complementary: Complementary training (accredited courses, master’s degree) in Humanitarian Action, International Cooperation and/or Public Health, training in Human Rights-based Approach, Training in Gender Approach will be valued.
Other higher and secondary training could be considered, as long as experience in coordinating health projects within the field of international cooperation and knowledge in primary health care and protection can be demonstrated.
Requirements
Languages: Spanish B2, English preferred.
IT: Management of the office package
Experience
• It is essential to have at least five years of professional experience in the sector, having previously held coordination positions, preferably in the field of humanitarian action and/or development in Central America and/or Mexico.
Previous experience in public health and protection projects will be valued, as well as experience in establishing multi-stakeholder alliances and inter-institutional dialogue and having worked with Doctors of the World.
Experience in humanitarian organizations, and in migration and displacement contexts
