Country Coordinator – HONDURAS At Save the Children

Position planned to be based in HONDURAS under National Contract.

Summary

Save the Children is currently accepting applications for a Country Coordinator for a Department of Labor-funded project with the objective of increasing collective action in Honduras, to address child labor, forced labor, and other unacceptable conditions of work. The position will be based in Honduras. The project will focus on people of African descent, Garifuna, and indigenous communities, and will work with CSOs to address labor exploitation, including issues of gender and racial discrimination, and workers’ organizations that represent the collective interests of formal and/or informal workers, including these target populations. The project will work directly with national and local authorities, the private sector, people of African descent, Garifuna, and indigenous communities, and other critical stakeholders. The project will also help workers’ organizations and CSOs to address child labor and other violations of acceptable conditions of work by strengthening their capacities to advance gender and racial equity.

The Country Coordinator will provide operational field support in their respective country, with the main focus in aligning priorities with the other target locations for this project. The coordinator is responsible for the overall logistics, financial, HR, and administrative coordination in these field locations, and will also be responsible for any recruitment or training needs for staff. The Coordinator will also support in the operational planning and supervision of the project teams and work closely with the local authorities, workers’ organizations, government bodies, local communities and CSOs to meet the project objectives. The position reports directly to the Project Director.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position working with CSOs and/or workers’ organizations;
• Demonstrated experience in project management and overseeing the work of relevant local staff, consultants, or subcontractors;
• Experience building coalitions with CSOs, workers’ organizations, government agencies, the private sector, and local communities to address labor issues;
• Understanding of key labor issues, including child labor, forced labor, and other unacceptable conditions of work;
• Understanding of gender and racial equity issues;
• Able to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and provide all required inputs to deliverables; and
• Fluency in Spanish language is required and working knowledge of English and/or relevant local language is preferred.
