Created in 1979, Action contre la Faim is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principals- independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency – has been part of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action contre la Faim has been working continuously in Sierra Leone since 1991. ACF currently plays a strong role in Health System Strengthening, working on national level policies and plans, building capacities national and district level to deliver improved services. Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation has also become a central element of ACF interventions in country. Due to Sierra Leone’s vulnerability to climate change, seen through changing rain patterns and increasing incidence of major floods and landslides, ACF works to increase local community resilience to climate related shocks through dissemination of knowledge related to climate resilient agricultural practices and sustainable land management, and increased access to meteorological information. The field team also supports the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) on the development and digitalization of a flood anticipation tool, improving data management and providing trend analysis to improve readiness. We are looking for a Country Director to lead our activities in the country. The position based in the capital Freetown, on the Atlantic ocean, offers a peaceful and beautiful duty station.

As Country Director you are responsible for overseeing the development, funding and implementation of the country strategy and the growth of program portfolio that effectively addresses the underlying causes and effects of malnutrition in line with ACF’s values, programming principles, and strategy. You lead a team of 70 employees including 3 international staff. More specifically: You develop the mission to a level where ACF would have a meaningful impact in country and where the mission would be sustainable (less dependant on ACF own funding). You oversee ressources mobilisation and fundraising efforts to suppport the implementation of the country strategy. You establish a management culture of performance with zero tolerance for fraud and SEA. You lead the successful implementation of improved financial and HR processes and tools. You provide leadership to the mission, internally and externally. REQUESTED PROFILE

You hold a Master degree in development studies or in management You show at least 5 years of experience in management position in the humanitarian or development sector at international level. You are known for your strong leadership, your management skills, and your sounds sense of responsibility. You are rigorous and at ease with multitasking.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS / SALARY

– 24 months fixed term contract under French legislation – Monthly gross salary from 3300 to 3800EUR upon experience – Monthly per diem and living allowance: 528EUR net, field paid – Monthly country allowance: 150EUR – Child allowance: 1500EUR per year per child present in the country of origin (maximum 6000EUR/year) – 16% of the gross monthly salary for pension insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens – Transportation and accommodation: Coverage of transportation costs and guest house – Medical coverage: 100% coverage of health contributions (social security + health insurance) and repatriation insurance – Leaves and RnR: 25 days of paid leaves per year, 20 RnR per year and 215 EUR at each RnR period – Training: Free and unlimited access to the certifying e-learning platform Crossknowledge © – Couple status
