Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
Overview:
NP has been working in Darfur for several years, with particular focus on North Darfur. Working through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP), NP centres local communities in preventing violence and promoting positive peace. The NP programming focuses on building capacities within local communities to engage in nonviolent self-protection methods such as protective accompaniment/presence, community-led safety and security initiatives such as conflict de-escalation techniques and early warning/response mechanisms. Secured funding spans several years and offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable, civilian protection.
Job Summary:
The Country Manager plays a critical role in leading and managing the organisation’s operations in Sudan. The Country Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for NP. This includes fundraising, overseeing programme implementation, managing partnerships, ensuring compliance with regulations, fostering stakeholder relations, and representing the organization at various levels. The Country Manager is responsible for representing the Sudan country program and is part of the global NP SMT.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop and implement the country-specific strategic plan aligned with the organisation’s overall mission and goals.
- Lead the annual planning process, including setting priorities, objectives, and targets.
- Monitor and evaluate programme effectiveness and impact, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Resource Mobilization and Partnerships
- Develop and implement a resource mobilization strategy to secure funding from diverse sources, including donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Cultivate relationships with potential donors and stakeholders, presenting the organization’s mission, vision, and programmatic approach.
- Identify and engage strategic partners, including government entities, local NGOs, and community organizations, to maximize impact and leverage resources.
Programme Development and Management:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of all programmes and projects in the country.
- Ensure effective utilisation of resources, adherence to project timelines, and achievement of programme goals and outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support on program and project design, monitoring, and evaluation.
Financial and Administrative Management:
- Ensure effective financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure control, and financial reporting.
- Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and donor requirements.
- Oversee administrative functions, including human resources, procurement, and logistics.
Staff Management and Capacity Building:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a competent and motivated team.
- Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Identify staff development needs and implement capacity-building initiatives.
Advocacy and Representation:
- Represent NP at the national and regional levels, advocating for the organization’s mission, values, and priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, donors, civil society organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organisation, ensuring effective communication and visibility.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Maser’s degree or higher) in a relevant field (e.g., international development, social sciences, management).
- Substantial experience (7 years) in a leadership position within the peacebuilding, humanitarian, or development sector, preferably in the designated country or similar contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, civil society engagement, strategic planning, programme management, project cycle management and partnership development.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Proven experience in staff management, capacity building, and team leadership.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local socio-political context, development challenges, and relevant stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
- English and Arabic fluency is required
