Context

CESVI is a secular and independent humanitarian organization founded in Bergamo in 1985, and operating in 23 countries around the world to support the most vulnerable populations in achieving their aspirations and sustainable development in compliance with human rights. Based on the ideals of social justice, CESVI pursues the well-being of populations that are in poverty or affected by wars, natural calamities and environmental disasters.

The CESVI organizational chart is composed of several Departments and Units including the National Programmes Unit in which the intern will be placed and which is responsible for designing and implementing social and educational interventions in the Italian context.

These are programs and projects implemented in partnership with other Third Sector organizations and public bodies, specifically addressing the issues of prevention of child abuse, education for global citizenship and social inclusion of minors and young migrants. CESVI also manages third-party financing programs for interventions with a high social impact, in collaboration with major donors.

Position

Role Description

The intern will have the opportunity to support for up to 4 months the National Programmes Unit which coordinates the implementation activities of the projects, develops new intervention strategies and project proposals for Italy.

Specifically, the intern:

  • supports the Head of National Programmes and the Area Manager Italy in daily activities related to project management;
  • carries out organizational and logistical activities for staff meetings and training activities for the National Programs Unit staff;
  • supports the monitoring of project activities carried out in Italy;
  • works alongside other human resources in the Unit and in particular with Project/Programme Managers/Officers to achieve project/programme activities;
  • interacts with external entities to CESVI such as Third Sector partner organisations or recipients of funding under national programmes;
  • deals with the research, analysis and finding of new material and data useful for the preparation of presentations;
  • supports in the preparation of project reporting: editing and translation;
  • supports in the planning of new interventions and in particular in the preparation of the contents and general documents required by the financiers;
  • supports in the reporting phases of closing projects.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Undergraduate in political science, sociology, economics or similar;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Organizational and problem solving skills;
  • Good predisposition for team-working;
  • Flexibility;
  • Knowledge of English (written and spoken);
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the use of Excel;
  • Knowledge in using programs: Word, Outlook.

Desirable Requirements

  • Sensitivity and interest towards projects and initiatives in the social and/or educational fields in Italy;
  • Knowledge of the main subjects and typical dynamics of the Italian Third Sector;
  • University training in the field of management of services/projects in the socio-educational field or in general in the field of management of Third Sector organizations;
  • Domicile in Bergamo or Milan.

This procedure is aimed at ensuring the protection of children and vulnerable people and the prevention of any form of abuse. These checks are an integral part of the staff selection process.

CESVI pays particular attention to safeguarding the health of all human resources of the Organization and therefore, to protect the collaborator, an assessment of suitability for the position for each mission is foreseen before departure. This assessment will be carried out by the competent doctor of the Organization.
