Curriculum Development Specialist for Vocational Training | Syria | 2022 At Chemonics

Chemonics seeks a Vocational Training Curriculum Development Specialists for the Supporting Moderate Education in Syria program, referred to as the Injaz program. The Injaz Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA) and works with civil councils, their education committees, and community-based organizations to provide education services.

Recognizing the negative impact that the fighting has had on the educational infrastructure, Injaz supports technical vocational training. Curriculum development specialists will review the current Injaz curricula and the project’s market research findings and recommendations and revise the curricula accordingly. The specialist position could be filled by an educational curricula developer or a technical vocation expert with curricula development experience. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving transparency & accountability and generating long-term change.

Chemonics seeks curriculum development specialists for the following vocations:

  • Welding
  • Carpentry
  • Aluminium forming
  • Painting
  • Hairdressing
  • Dessert making
  • Sewing

Responsibilities:

  • Review the current Injaz vocational training curricula and video content
  • Review the project’s latest market research findings and recommendations
  • Revise written curricula and prepare recommendations of changes to video content
  • Collaborate with Injaz’s local partners’ trainers to align on market priorities and to ensure the curricula is localized
  • Design and develop learning modules and assessments
  • Train local partner trainers on the revised curricula

Qualifications:

  • University degree in education, adult education, or technical area
  • Experience with curriculum development and/or instruction in the targeted vocations, ideally in a private vocational centre or higher education institute
  • Relevant professional experience in vocational training or adult education
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities, training experience, and presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Native Arabic speaker
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
