About CRS

CRS has been working in Uganda since 1965 and has a vibrant portfolio of projects, serving over a million vulnerable Ugandans and refugees each year through the Country Program 2030 Strategy. CRS programs in Uganda currently support five strategic priority areas, including Health and Social Services Systems Strengthening, Resilient Food Systems, Emergency Preparedness and Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Local Leadership. CRS Uganda implements its programs through partnerships with local organizations, including international and local NGOs, Ugandan government departments and ministries, the Catholic Church, and community-based organizations for maximum impact and sustainability.

Background:

The CRS`s Livelihoods Improvement and Transformation for Refugees and Host Communities in Kampala (LIFT) project with aim to improve the livelihoods of 96 urban refugees and host community families in Kampala urban area intends to conduct an Urban Assessment (UA) in the selected urban areas of Makindye and Kampala central division to understand the unique challenges and opportunities affecting refugees and vulnerable host community members. The assessment will focus on: (1) understanding livelihoods needs, barriers and opportunities for urban refugees and vulnerable host community members focusing on self- employment (business) and formal employment; (2) mapping out key stakeholders in improving livelihoods in both the private and public sector; (3) understanding opportunities to improve social cohesion between refugees and host populations.

Job Summary:
The Enumerator will be responsible for ensuring that data collected during the studies is timely, reliable, accurate and valid to meet the information needs of the organization. S/he should adhere to the standard ethical research principles.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in the trainings for both data collection methodologies and the understanding of data collection tools.
• Carry out pretesting of the data collection tools while gathering feedback.
• Support collection of accurate, reliable, and valid data during the studies.
• Ensure that data is collected within the stipulated time frame and in accordance with CRS standards, code of conduct and safeguarding policy.
• Fill in and submit to supervisor timesheets detailing the level of effort per day worked.
• Support in any data entry into a designated system.
• Keep and maintain records of data collected in a safe custody.
• Perform any other CRS duties as assigned and agreed upon with your Supervisor.

Basic Qualifications
• Should have at least completed Ordinary Level Diploma.
• MUST have knowledge of basic computer skills like especially spreadsheets.
• Should have at least one year of experience in data collection/research.
• Knowledge in CommCare application is an added advantage.
• MUST be able to speak at least TWO of these Languages, including English: Swahili, Luganda, Arabic, Hebrew, or any common language spoken in these two areas. English is mandatory.
• Should be always ready to work on call.
• Understanding of Catholic Social Teaching concepts or willingness to learn.

Required Languages – English proficiency (both written and oral) is required.
