Data Manager and IT Support Officer – Ukrainian Response At Lutheran World Federation

The Lutheran World Federation Prague (hereafter referred to as LWF Prague) is a local NGO in Czech Republic, supporting the humanitarian and development work of The Department of World Service of the Lutheran World Federation (hereafter referred to as LWF World Service) based in Geneva. The LWF World Service is the internationally recognized humanitarian and development arm of the Lutheran World Federation, assisting people in need in 27 Country Programs in Latin-America, Asia, Middle East and Africa with more than 9,000 staff. Due to the escalation of conflicts and military intervention in Ukraine, the LWF World Service is scaling up its humanitarian response to respond to the needs of refugees and IDPs. The response will be through a regional coordination mechanism to increase access of the targeted population arriving in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania to the necessary assistance and services. Community engagement, shelter, non-food items, food, advocacy, WASH, mental health and psychosocial support have been identified as priority areas for intervention.

About the position:

LWF Prague Office seeks to employ a full time Data Manager and IT Support Officer to develop, implement and maintain Data Management Systems and IT infrastructure (hardware/software) for the LWF Ukrainian Response and its locations. The work will be done on-site and remotely.

Starting date: ASAP

Working station: Prague

Contract duration: one year, to be renewed

Main requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Sciences or related field
  • Hands on experience with data management systems, databases, complex SQL queries, pipelines and dashboards.
  • Experience working on data quality checks, data cleaning and processing.
  • Experience providing IT support on-site and remotely
  • Experience setting up and maintaining ticketing systems for IT
  • Experience with Office 365 environment
  • Proven experience of using web-based systems and good knowledge of Excel.
  • English: advanced written and oral skills (C1 or native)
  • Polish/Ukrainian languages are an advantage; Czech language is not required

Main duties:

  • Provide effective technical support and services to the Operation during the project cycle aiming to generate better quality of data reported.
  • Perform data manipulation, cleansing, extraction, processing whenever is required.
  • IT support to set up, such as procurement, installing computer hardware, software (Microsoft Office 365), systems, networks, printers, and scanners, and resolving technical issues
  • Support in developing, managing and updating dashboards, including requests development for new visualizations
  • Assist the database maintenance and health checks
  • Support the implementation of data collection activities
  • Maintain document management strategy developed by Data Governance Manager
  • Implement and maintain ticketing system and IT protocols

Position environment and dimensions:

The position holder will be a member of the global Data Management Unit that is part of a wider Quality and Accountability Team of LWF World Service. It will report to the Global Coordinator for Data Management based in Geneva. The position is based in Prague and managed through a matrix.
