Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for the anticipated five-year USAID-funded Multispecies Biodiversity Conservation Activity. The Activity will aim to improve the protection of key wildlife species and their habitat in Bangladesh. Activities will mitigate threats to wildlife and habitats, reduce consumer demand, improve political commitment and coordination, improve traceability of illegal logging and wildlife, and improve sustainable management of forest and aquatic resources.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the chief of party in the management of the various technical components of the activity
- Provide technical leadership and support the COP in day to day management
- Foster strong relationships with key senior government and other counterparts to support project results
- Ensure that activity components are results-oriented, that deliverables are high quality, and that reporting is relevant and timely
- Participate and engage in technical discussions and planning to drive results in the evolving local context of the project
- Work in close coordination with the technical team to ensure that proper sub-sectoral technical aspects are incorporated in the activity’s technical assistance.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, wildlife biology forestry, biology, environmental science or policy, or a related field
- Minimum seven years of experience in some or all of the following technical areas: combatting wildlife trafficking and/or illegal logging; environmental governance; and/or sustainable management of forest or aquatic/marine resources ; social-behavior communications
- Minimum seven years of experience in working on natural resource management related donor funded programming including at least five years managerial experience and leading teams and programs of similar scope and size, working with a broad range of stakeholders
- Strong ability to address and integrate gender responsive activities
- Fluency in Bengali and English
