The Aga Khan Foundation, (AKF) is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the USAID-funded Education Resilience Activity (ERA) in Pakistan. ERA aims to support Pakistan’s basic education ecosystem to enhance inclusive sustained access to quality basic education for marginalized children. ERA is envisioned to engage with local organizations and provincial and district-level education departments in flood- and conflict-affected districts of Pakistan.

The DCOP will be based in Islamabad and report to the Chief of Party. The DCOP will be required to travel extensively to the project sites.

Applicants will be interviewed and hired contingent upon funding.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shall support the Chief of Party in the day-to-day management, implementation and results of this activity and ensure it contributes to the objectives envisaged for ERA.
  • Contribute to developing strategic plans, annual and quarterly work plans, and overall management of the program in line with USAID guidelines to achieve project objectives
  • Contribute to developing a strong vision and implementation of the program with an evidence-based approach, integrating innovative strategies, and delivering on all objectives of the project.
  • Contribute to maintaining oversight of high-risk areas, including but not limited to procurement, monitoring and evaluation, and staff security.
  • Ensure integration of key cross-cutting themes and priorities including inclusion, gender, safeguarding, climate change, private sector mobilization amongst others.
  • Support the Chief of Party’s work in the management of staff and sub-awards and oversight of financial and reporting in compliance with USAID and USG rules and regulations.

Minimum Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., Education, Public Policy, Administration, International Development, or another relevant field) from an internationally recognized university.
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated experience successfully managing education programs in Pakistan.
  • A proven track record of building teams and fostering collaboration to achieve goals, meet milestones, and produce high quality written qualitative, quantitative, and narrative deliverables.
  • Effective personnel management, coordination, and decision-making skills, with an ability to be accountable for all aspects of this project.
