**Intial duty station will be Nairobi, Kenya but the long term station remains Sudan**
The Deputy Country Director for Programmes is responsible for ensuring that CARE’s programs in Sudan tackles poverty and injustice with the overarching aim of reaching transformative social and economic equality for women and girls. The DCD-P will assist the Country Director maintain a high profile for CARE International in Sudan as a leader in bringing about long lasting social and economic change.
As a key member of the CARE International in Sudan country office senior leadership team, the Deputy Country Director will contribute to country programming and leadership priorities. This position will lead program strategic meetings, as well as provide input and feedback on key issues. By engaging with key regional and HQ stakeholders, the Position will support overall leadership and key program functions of the country office. He/she will oversee the country office compliance with the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, and anti-fraud policies in particular, and consistently reinforce this behavior with staff and partners in the line of duty.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Deputy Country Director – Programs will be responsible for the following: development in order to maximize impact.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the country director in providing overall leadership and strategy
- Resources mobilization, Identification, Design, and Secure Funding for New Projects
- Representation, Communication, and Coordination
- Ensure effective Project cycle management, program execution and meeting donors contractual obligations
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in development-related field
- Proven senior management experience in complex contexts including humanitarian and development programmes
- Understanding of technical and functional areas and ability to support, coordinate and manage them
- 10 years of experience and at least five years work experience managing community-based projects in developing countries
- Excellent proven leadership skills in complex situations, with diverse teams and able to design and deliver a successful Country Office Strategic plan
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; facilitation and report writing skills
- Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively and represent the organization at all levels
- Firm belief and proven ability to foster successful and inclusive teamwork and gender equality; transparent and participatory management
- Extensive and proven ability to understand and manage budgets
- Fluency in verbal and written English; Good communication and facilitation skills
- Excellent budgeting and management reporting skills and experience
- Excellent and proven fundraising, development and resrource management including donor management and representation
