Where you come in:
In this full time, two year fixed-term position, based at Deakin University’s Burwood campus (though remote candidates may be considered), CHL seeks a senior ‘pracademic’ to join our passionate, high-performing team. As Deputy Director, you’ll contribute to CHL’s strategy by leading critical work streams including external engagement, partnership development, business development and contributing to policy analysis and program design.
You will make an impact by:

  • Building a network of partners and key stakeholders, developing opportunities for collaboration on strategic projects
  • Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities
  • Designing, overseeing, and contributing to research and policy analysis
  • Shaping the vision for CHL’s industry-leading events which further humanitarian dialogue, support CHL’s strategic aims and add value to the wider humanitarian sector
  • Contributing to CHL’s leadership programs and master’s courses

Does this sound like you?
You have superior stakeholder engagement, partnership and business development skills, with proven ability to cultivate a stakeholder network across the humanitarian sector, identifying complementarity and seeking opportunities to collaborate. You have the experience and ability to drive new business development opportunities and contribute to program design and delivery.
This role requires:

  • Substantial operational humanitarian experience as well as wider engagement in the humanitarian practitioner space
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic relationship development and policy engagement
  • Demonstrable experience in leading business development and collaborative projects
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about complex issues and evolving contexts, with capacity for analytical and conceptual thought in the diagnosis of problems
