CONTEXT

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Project Manager RSC and Resettlement Latin America, and direct supervision of the RSC Migration Health Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting IOM resettlement focal points as well as non-IOM panel clinics, providing assistance to US Resettlement programs in Guatemala through activities related to medical case management, coordination of follow up and treatment, pre-departure evaluations, fitness to travel checks and specific travel requirements for medical cases. In particular, the incumbent will have following duties and responsibilities:**

Core Functions/ Responsibilities

· Assist Migration Health Coordinator in the coordination and monitoring of the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project.

· Liaise with non-IOM panel physicians in Guatemala in coordination with RSC and Operations for US resettlement cases.

· Ensure the Panel Physicians schedule timely medical assessment appointments to avoid backlogs, monitor the medical pipeline, including deferrals.

· Facilitate medical data management within these programs and data entry to MiMOSA while ensuring compliance with IOM and receiving country data protection guidelines.

· Review medical invoices and validate them against the agreed upon service fees and requests for deferrals.

· Confirm follow up and travel requirements with the RSC, Operations and the panel physicians.

· Coordinate and oversee travel requirements and completion of relevant medical forms with the airlines, assist IOM Operations in the pre-departure and travel arrangements required for complex medical cases.

· Coordinate require travel and post-arrival arrangements for US medical movements with IOM NYC and Washington.

· Perform pre-embarkation checks and administer antiparasite presumptive treatment for medical cases.

· Serve as medical escort when required

· Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation tools, and standard operations procedures.

· Provide technical guidance to and assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of the staff in the unit.

· Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications and experience

Education and experience

· Degree in Medicine with the license to practices in Guatemala;

· Advanced university degree, preferably in Public Health from an accredited academic institution preferred;

· At least 2 years of experience in coordinating health programs/systems;

· Knowledge of public health program implementation, which includes management of administrative issues, monitoring and evaluation; collaboration with international organizations, NGOs and governmental counterparts;

· Good command of spoken and written English and Spanish;

· Computer literacy;

· Cultural and gender sensitivity;

· Previous work with international organization or migration health or public health projects is an asset.

Skill

· Attention to detail and ability to organize

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision

Languages

Fluency in Spanish and English (Oral and Written)
