Length of the internship: 6-12 months, max. 80 hours per month

Contract: Internship Agreement + DPP on monthly basis, 120 CZK per hour, max. 20 hours per week

About People in Need:

People in Need (PIN) is one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central and Eastern Europe active in humanitarian and development aid, human rights and social inclusion. In 2021, more than 1700 employees worked in our Humanitarian and Development Aid Section in 23 countries (Asia, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe). Our growing team in Prague (with a turnover of more than 90 million EUR per year) is looking for a new Desk Trainee for Asia.

About the role of Desk Trainee:

The Desk Trainee (DT) supports the work of the Country Programme Coordinator (CPC) and Junior Country Programme Coordinator (JCPC) in the majority of her/his activities (per request). Typical tasks include helping with the projects related to administration, communicating with HQ support departments, and coordinating visits to and from HQ.

The position shall enable the DT to gain experience from INGO, and develop an understanding of how the PIN systems work. Furthermore, gain some understanding of project cycle management from the side of projects (project proposal writing, and implementation) and systems and operations (finances, systems and HR). It shall lead the DT to develop its own interests in the area of human rights, humanitarian and development work, and human rights, and enable the DT to enter the sector.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Programme support

  • Supports preparing (collecting all documentation, checking and translating) and submitting proposals and reports to CzDA and Czech MFA (electronic and physical delivery)
  • Creates/updates/improves the quality of the project track records
  • Conducts desk research
  • Supports the process of Internal Project Reports

Administrative support

  • Responds to requests for information (data entry, compiling documents)
  • Writing the minutes of meetings (e.g. bi-weekly online meetings), depending on availability and agreement with CPC or JCPC.

ELO Archiving

  • Helps to keep the resource and implementation folders keywording up to date
  • Uploads contracts and other documentation on request
  • Supports the CPC and JCPC to check and ensure that the project documentation is properly archived

Communications

  • Collaborates with CPC and JCPC on website updates and beneficiary counts
  • Provides inputs to annual reports
  • Coordinates translation and fact-checking of press releases, and the production of visibility materials produced in the Czech Republic

Support to expatriate staff and Human Resources

  • Updates welcome packs
  • Support with relocating expatriate staff

The ideal candidate:

  • has a university degree or is a university student, ideally in your final year, with a focus on development studies or humanitarian studies (or related fields).
  • speaks excellent English.
  • has good communication and organizational skills.
  • is reliable, flexible, and has a positive approach to new challenges.
  • want to further his/her education and development in the development/humanitarian sector.
  • is able to work independently with a dedicated team spirit.
  • Is able to come to the office in Prague on regular basis.
