Chemonics seeks a destination marketing lead for the USAID Visit Tunisia Activity in Tunisia. The project aims to enhance Tunisia’s tourism sector by capitalizing on the country’s natural, cultural, heritage and historical sites to develop a more diversified and high-quality tourism sector that contributes to broad-based economic growth. The destination marketing lead will lead the project’s marketing efforts to advance the work of promoting Tunisia as a compelling travel destination. This position will be based in Tunis, Tunisia. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Reports to Chief of Party and supports overall project leadership and strategy
- Support the COP to engage with USAID and project stakeholders to communicate project information and successes
- Lead the marketing team and portfolio to advance the work of positioning, promoting, and selling Tunisia as a diverse, compelling, desirable, and year-round destination targeting high-yield traveler and niche tourism segments
- In partnership with the ONTT, regional DMOs and the private sector, integrate best-practice destination and experiences marketing strategies using innovation, digital platforms, industry partnerships, and trainings/certification programs for service providers and travel agents
- Ensure integration of branding and marketing efforts with product and experiences development
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience including management experience and a minimum of 5 years overseeing tourism marketing and branding initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Strong technical expertise in destination marketing and branding campaigns, tourism research, and tourism strategic planning
- Experience in managing private sector partnerships and in leveraging industry support to destination development.
- Experience working in the tourism private sector strongly preferred
- Relevant experience leading diverse teams and demonstrated capacity in building staff skills and ensuring quality control of project deliverables
- Excellent writing and oral presentation skills
- Skilled at relationship management with private, public-sector entities, and other donors
- Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluent English. Arabic and/or French is desirable
