Background
The Regional Water Quality Laboratory (RWQL), located in Tamale, Northern Region of Ghana, 25 km north of Tamale, serves as a critical facility for water quality testing in the West African region. Established in 2011, the laboratory’s core mandate is to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water provided to vulnerable communities across the World Vision Partnership in the West African Sub- region, and to others. Currently, the Regional Water Quality Laboratory operates without an official website. This significant gap hinders effective communication with clients, partners, and stakeholders. The absence of an online platform restricts the laboratory’s ability to share critical information such as testing procedures, pricing, and turnaround times. Moreover, clients lack an efficient means to submit samples, schedule appointments, or receive updates on testing results.
This communication deficiency not only impacts the laboratory’s service delivery but also its competitiveness in the marketplace. Developing an official website is crucial for improving the laboratory’s engagement with clients and stakeholders, ensuring that water quality testing and reporting processes are accurate, timely, and aligned with industry standards.
The RWQL offers a comprehensive range of services, including:
• Water Quality Testing: Conducting in-depth testing of physical parameters, major ions, trace metals, and both in-situ and ex-situ microbiological analysis of drinking water samples.
• Training: Providing professional training in water quality monitoring, assessment, and management tailored for personnel in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
• Research/Partnership: Engaging in research into new water treatment technologies, baseline studies, and collaboration with academic institutions, students, and other partners.
