About the CALP Network
The CALP Network is a dynamic global network of over 90 organisations engaged in the critical areas of policy, practice and research in humanitarian cash and voucher assistance (CVA) and financial assistance more broadly. Collectively, CALP members deliver the vast majority of humanitarian CVA worldwide.
What makes the CALP Network unique is its diversity. CALP members currently include local and international non-governmental organisations, United Nations agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent Movement, donors, specialist social innovation, technology and financial services companies, researchers and academics, and individual practitioners.
Together we seek to better meet the needs and improve the outcomes for people affected by crisis. To do this we ensure that CVA is a central, scalable component of quality, timely and appropriate humanitarian assistance, and that the need to sustain positive outcomes for people over the longer term is considered.
Project description
We are seeking a consultant/s to support the CALP team to develop principles and a roadmap for the appropriate use of AI by the CALP team and consultants. The roadmap will provide a basis for the intentional use of AI, identifying uses across the team, factoring staff development needs and ensuring both risks and opportunities are understood and managed in the process.
What is needed
We are looking for a consultant/s to help us explore potential use cases for AI in the near (months) and medium term (18-24 months) – developing both principles and a roadmap to guide our work. Given how quickly AI tools are developing, we see this as a roadmap that will guide us as we start to transition to the intentional and strategic use of AI across the organisation.

- A strong understanding of AI
- Knowledge of the range AI tools relevant to CALP’s work
- Demonstrable experience of engaging with AI and IT ethics discussions/work
- A proven understanding of some of the areas of work that the CALP team engages in e.g. learning, training, evidence generation, network development
- Strong facilitation and listening skills
- Analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible attitude
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills
In addition, it is desirable that the consultant/s have:
- Experience of leading a consultation process of this sort in relation to AI
- A basic understanding of humanitarian work
How to apply

- A CV (max two sides)
- Indication of your availability to work in late 2023 and early 2024
