Development Manager At Medair

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the director and in liaison with the rest of the team, your main missions will be the development of the association’s private resources through the following axes: Medair’s individual donor base, innovative partnerships, relations with churches, Medair’s reputation and resources through events, relations with companies.

Project Type Overview

Medair is an international humanitarian organization driven by the Christian faith. Its goal is to alleviate human suffering in some of the most remote and devastated places in the world. Medair’s French headquarters are located in Chabeuil, in the Drôme, and its role is to support programs on the ground by providing technical expertise, funding, human resources and communication relays.

Workplace & conditions

Based in France in Chabeuil (26) with regular travel to Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. 3 days of teleworking per week possible – more complete teleworking to be discussed if the candidate is based in Lyon.

Start date / Contract type

Mid-September 2024. 5-month fixed-term contract. Full-time position, possibility of 80%

Key Responsibilities

Growing Medair’s individual donor base

  • In collaboration with management, you ensure the writing of print and/or digital fundraising materials (letters, newspapers) and supervise the work of service providers (graphic designers, printers, etc.)
  • You prepare and send digital communications (creation of certain pages on the website, and monitoring of operations under Sales Force)
  • You prepare the tools (letter, videos) to thank donors and develop community relationships
  • You track strategic data on campaigns, donors, etc. and share it with the team.

Developing the support network in Christian schools

  • With the support of a civic service volunteer, you monitor existing partnerships, mainly in the AURA region.
  • You carry out prospecting actions (phoning, meetings), supervise the work of the volunteer, to set up new partnerships and ensure the supervision of operations deployed in the establishments (organization of solidarity crosses, rice bowls and other initiatives.).
  • You prepare communication materials and go to schools to hold awareness sessions with students.

Developing Relationships with Churches

  • In collaboration with management, you monitor existing relationships and develop new ones, particularly in your territory.
  • You make contacts, follow up on relationships and organize interventions within churches. You prepare communication tools.

Develop Medair’s awareness and resources through events

  • You follow the current projects with partner artists (Meak, Stereosnap, Matt K)
  • You design and organize Medair-specific digital, physical or hybrid events to strengthen donor relations and raise awareness of MEDAIR more widely.
  • You manage Medair’s participation in external events (relations with organizers, preparation of activities, logistical organization, on-site presence)
  • You support event organizers for the benefit of Medair

Developing relationships with businesses

  • You are a driving force in identifying potential partners. In coordination with management, you contact prospects, think about possible collaborations, develop communication materials and organize meetings.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of higher education at M2 level or from a leading business or communications/marketing school, you have 3 years of experience in project development and/or fundraising.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English

Experiences / Skills

  • Strong commitment to Medair’s mission and values
  • Excellent writing skills, experience in writing fundraising documents is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: good listening skills and power of conviction, commercial sensitivity
  • Multi-tasking ability, autonomy, flexibility, sense of initiative and solution-finding skills
  • Good knowledge of Christian circles and ecumenical openness
  • Sense of humor, team spirit
  • Flexibility in terms of schedules in humanitarian emergencies.
  • Availability for occasional trips mainly in France, sometimes in the evening and at weekends (4-6 times per year)
