PURPOSE

The Digital Asset Specialist leads efforts to organize and deliver raw and simply edited digital content (proactively and reactively) ensuring smooth content workflow. This role supports ICRC adhering to best practice in data protection and ethical content gathering. S/he provides guidance, training and support to all staff across the organization in digital asset management and distribution.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Asset Management & Content Creation

  • Assist colleagues to upload and share content, ensuring the metadata, consent, contracts, licenses and classification are correct.
  • Support emergency content management during crises, including the rapid ingestion and distribution of high-priority assets.
  • Support colleagues searching for content
  • Curate shareable content packages for colleagues from existing materials, including editing simple B rolls for the newsroom and photos.

Capacity building

  • Providing user-centric training in digital asset management and content workflow in collaboration with Regional Communication Centres (RCCs).

System support

  • Liaise with ICT and other technical teams to maintain digital asset management system integrity and address user concerns.
  • Support archives in their workflow ensuring they have the necessary information to archive content
  • Ensure media, external production companies, freelancers, digital agencies and National Societies can access the content they are seeking (subject to validation and copyright)

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in communications, journalism, design or archiving or relevant subject
  • 6-9 years professional experience in managing media asset systems
  • Experience in content creation, simple video editing and social media posting
  • Fluent in English; additional language proficiency is an asset.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to cope with stress, competing multiple projects and adhere to deadlines
  • Collaborative proactive mindset with a client-centric approach to problem solving.
  • Expertise in video and photo editing for broadcast and social media platforms
  • Tech savvy
  • Data protection knowledge
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability to communicate about technical matters in both 1:1 conversations and larger audiences in training settings.
