About the Role
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Digital Community Associate to strengthen and engage GAIN’s online presence through our digital channels. This role will be on a fixed-term contract until December 2026, subject to availability of funding. This position is open to GAIN’s country offices in Nairobi and New Delhi.
Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will lead the GAIN Communications team in social media and digital campaign planning, coordination and implementation, as well as general communications support for the team when needed. You will coordinate and work with other focal points in other countries and programmes and lead on internal communication matters.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for leading implementation across all our active channels to maintain and grow strong social media presence
- Advising the digital communications team to include, drafting social media content and uploading content on the GAIN website and social media platforms
- Ensuring the Head of Communications and the team have a good overview of the status of our digital channels and ensuring KPIs are trackable and reached
- Coordinating and leading creation of an internal and external newsletter to facilitate community awareness of activities
- Reviewing and coordinating the production of branded materials, such as fact sheets, infographics, brochures, reports, etc. at programme and country-level
- Producing content for social media, e.g. photos, images and infographics
- Managing the production of branded materials during events – from UN International Days to major GAIN events (different uses – from digital (web & social media) to traditional print)
- Responsible for the running of the podcast, including coordination of all end-to-end production
- Coordinating global and country communications team to include, social media support, digital support, writing content etc.
About You
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in communication roles, preferable with links to social media, branding, marketing, journalism, public relations or related area.
You will posess excellent creativity and writing skills and willing and able to collaboratively with a team and within a multicultural organisation. In addition to this, you will be proficiency in written and spoken English, candidates with working knowledge of French and additional languages will be an additional advantage.
The postholder will possess proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Programmes (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) to create visual content. Also, you will have video editing skills and solid understanding of social media and digital channels.
About our Offer
The starting salary for each office is as follows, depending on experience:
- Kenya: From KES 2,396,196 – KES 2,734,584 (gross) per annum
- India: From INR 978,132 – INR 1,119,216 (gross) per annum

About GAIN
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Due to COVID19, conflict in Ukraine and climate change, malnutrition and hunger have worsened significantly since 2019, reversing a decade of progress. There is growing recognition that our food systems need to change if we are to reverse these trends.
GAIN’s Strategy aims to transform food systems to make healthier diets from sustainable food systems accessible to all people and especially those whose are most vulnerable to shocks.
