NetHope is seeking an experienced, organized, and enthusiastic Digital Programming Manager to support the development and implementation of sustainable digital program offerings for development, conservation, and humanitarian aid contexts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with the ability to manage and multi-task both on short- and long-term goals, is a strong relationship builder and collaborator, stakeholder and team oriented, and is adept at working in a remote/virtual environment.
In this role you will contribute to ensuring NetHope is best placed to support a rapidly evolving nonprofit ecosystem that is itself poised to take on the cutting edge of digital solutions and contribute to NetHope continuing to lead the nonprofit sector through leveraged and timely insights. This includes supporting NetHope in broadening its work with local and national NGOs – primarily through its existing membership and through new partnerships with regional and country level networks.
The Digital Programming Manager will have implemented tech programs in development and/or humanitarian contexts, will be expected to keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the sector, and will work with a small, dynamic team and Members to develop robust new offerings as part of NetHope’s programs and services.
Specific responsibilities include:
Program Development Support
- Work with the Digital Programming team and across NetHope to develop a digital offer that aligns with our commitments to collective action, sustainability, localization, and inclusivity.
- Provide technical expertise and contribute to project proposals to maximize the potential impact of digital tools and technology in NetHope programs and to help Members accelerate the delivery of their missions.
- Support the development of ideas and fundraising initiatives within NetHope’s programmatic strategy that would advance direct or indirect program implementation in both development, conservation, and humanitarian environments.
Digital Programming Implementation and Technical Support
- Develop and maintain systems and processes that support NetHope’s engagement in development, conservation, and humanitarian interventions that focus on digital solutions.
- Proactively monitor assigned projects and activities and engage stakeholders in generating ideas and solutions to anticipated risks within programs. Where required help develop individual workplans and tasks based on high level program designs.
- Support capacity strengthening and learning initiatives in Digital Programming for NetHope staff, Members and partners, including:
- Contributing to the development of learning opportunities for training needs that NetHope is best placed to support either online or in-person training events.
- Developing webinars, briefings, and reports on developments in various tech fields to support learning and growth in relation to the use of digital tools.
- Exploring emerging technology trends and opportunities, including generative AI and advanced analytics.
- Effectively collaborate internally and bring diverse voices together to ideate and solve problems – not only within the program team, yet across departments and functions, and wider stakeholder groups, to ensure health of all programmatic initiatives.
- Lead or support research and evidence building, using information and analysis for influencing and strategic advice, paying special attention to diversity of contributors, proactively contributing to knowledge management and learning, and improving the quality of digital programs.
- When necessary, be available for emergency response deployments and other domestic or international travel requirements.
Collaboration and Partnerships
- Support the identification, development, maintenance, and enhancement of strategic relationships with Members, wider NGO stakeholders, technology partners, and funders to understand needs and seek solutions inclusive of funding and implementation.
- Liaising with experts in the field (as needed), provide technical advice and assistance on the use of digital tools (e.g. data collection, information management, etc.) to NetHope Members and in emergency response, and to support digital transformation and innovation.
- Nurture partnerships between technology partners and national, regional and global NGO networks, and work in collaboration with all departments in NetHope to manage key stakeholder relationships
- Working with Members and partners, support the strengthening of the Digital Programming team and the role of digital programming at NetHope, alongside Working Groups and Regional Chapters, contributing to the delivery of the shared NetHope strategy.

Knowledge and Skills
- Exceptional communication, relationship building, and facilitation skills, including facilitating collaborative processes and trainings.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing digital programs/services from inception to healthy, proven impact within the NGO sector; experience with digital climate programs and/or knowledge of digital climate tools preferred.
- Demonstrated small project leadership experience, ideally in a nonprofit context.
- Understanding of data privacy, data protection, and responsible data principles and approaches. Ideally in complex humanitarian, conservation and development contexts.
- Knowledge of innovation processes (e.g. systems thinking, participatory design) and partner-led approaches.
- Understanding of MEAL practices and approaches a plus.
- Multilingual verbal and written communication skills a plus.
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in digital programming using technology in international humanitarian or development settings, or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience with ICT4D, ICTs, and/or relevant technology that can be applied to field programs; experience with ICTs in emergency response is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Brings diverse perspective, and candidates from the global majority with lived experience in contexts where NetHope and Members work are encouraged to apply.
- NetHope Member experience highly valued, other NGO experience a plus.
Reporting and Working Conditions:
- This position is a full-time position that reports to Director of Digital Programming and works closely with the program team, MEAL Specialist, NetHope Member organization staff, and partners.
- NetHope is a virtual organization, so our team, our Members, and our Partners are located around the world. Due to the global nature of the organization, meetings may thus be required at any time of the day to meet with our stakeholders in varying time zones. To meet these needs, NetHope embraces flexible schedules for team members, and we work with each other to be located globally, but still maintain a reasonable work time balance.

- This position is 100% remote and virtual. International or domestic travel may be required for 10-20% including to humanitarian responses.
- This position is funded through a 3-year grant and will continue should funding be available.
