Director – International Grant Management At Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Program Effectiveness team as the Director of International Grant Management. Reporting to the Senior Director, Program Quality and Grant Implementation, this position is responsible for oversight and strengthening of grant management processes for Habitat for Humanity internationally, and for leading and coordinating support for this work. The Director of International Grant Management will ensure that grant funded projects are aligned with HFHI program strategies and will closely collaborate with HQ and field-based program, finance and legal teams to enable these projects to meet both program quality standards and donor deliverables.

The successful candidate will need to have the skillset and flexibility to have a high-level understanding of grants management processes and trends and to engage effectively with senior donor representatives on these, and also to provide hands on support to Area Offices (AOs), Branches and National Offices (NOs), to build understanding of overall change plans and to give specific training and troubleshooting support. This position will line manage and be supported by the Specialist, International Grants Management, while also working closely with the 4 Associate Directors, Grants Management (for Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe & Middle East, and Latin America & the Caribbean). This position will be based remotely from a location to be mutually agreed with successful candidate (where HFH can legally hire and candidate can legally work) and will require approximately 20% travel both international and domestic.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Strengthening
* Lead and coordinate rollout of new grants management end-to-end processes internationally, in line with agreed plans.
* Ensure that rollout of grant management component of ERP includes adequate provision for tracking of grant data across all individual grants internationally, and that adequate support is given to AOs, Branches and NOs to ensure that data is entered from the point of entity rollout onwards and kept live.
* Draft new international grants management policies, workflows or formats as required, for senior leadership input and approval.

Entity Support
* Collaborate with AO focal points on developing and maintaining enhanced mechanisms for support to their priority grant funded programs.
* Provide training and guidance to AOs, Branches and NOs as part of end-to-end process rollout, and ongoing as required.
* Provide specific support with special projects as agreed with line manager (e.g. hands on support on start-up of a new large grant, joining interview panel for selection of senior project staff, participating in donor requirements mapping and mitigation planning).

Stakeholder Management
* Establish solid working relationships with HFHI network – HQ, Branches, NOs, financial, compliance, audit, MEAL.
* Manage information flow across the HFHI network, particularly for clear and supportive communication on grant management strengthening.
* Liaise with global level institutional donor representatives on international program implementation progress as required, particularly in the US or Europe (e.g. with USAID or EC, to clarify on key grant requirements or to seek approval for changes to timelines or budgets).

Knowledge Management
* Actively interact with the HFHI network to share case studies, lessons learned and best practice, including through creating and participating in relevant Communities of Practice
* Keep line manager updated on contextual challenges, suggested solutions, and overall grants process progress.

Pursuant to current HFHI policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in international relations, development studies or other relevant discipline
* At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in project and grant management in the international development/humanitarian sector and at least 5 years’ experience in the implementation of complex bi-lateral and multi-lateral funded projects
* Deep understanding of both operational and compliance requirements of major institutional donors
* Demonstrated understanding of program quality standards and management best practices in international development
* Experience in risk management
* Fluency in English
* Experience in proposal development and project design
* Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation processes preferred
* Skilled at Building relationships and trust, Leading change, Developing people
* Demonstrated ability to think critically, communicate clearly and create accountability
