Lifting Hands International is looking for a Director of Distributions, Logistics & Finance to start in Greece in April 2023 and commit for at least six months. About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees & asylum seekers at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
As Director of DLF you will work closely with the Director of Operations, the Director of Human Resources, and the Country Director to lead and empower our management team members and ensure the health and success of Serres programs. This role entails both home-office and field-based work, including regular visits to the community center and the aid warehouse for feedback sessions or to support managers.
- Primary oversight of aid distribution, logistics and operational finances
- Line management & collaboration with the two program managers in charge of distributions, warehouse, logistics and facilities.
- Leading the development of aid distribution & logistics programs towards 1) increased community engagement within program activities and 2) optionality in the reception of emergency aid, i.e., a free-shop distribution system.
- Working with the directors team, helping to oversee a large multicultural team of program managers, visiting and community volunteers
- Engaging with external partners and organisations to share best practice and inform operational decisions
- Report writing and strategic planning
Essential Criteria
- Minimum six month commitment, must be able to remain in Greece for the full period without visa restrictions
- At least 1 year experience in a coordination role
- Previous experience of people management in a multicultural team
- An understanding of distributions and/or logistics in a grassroots humanitarian context
- Demonstrable report writing skills
- Proven ability to work in a self-directed way without constant supervision
- Fluent English speaker
- International Drivers License
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French
- Relevant degree(s) in a related field
- Experience with bookkeeping and financial tracking
- Understanding of the implementation of Psycho-Social-Support programs
- Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months
