Director, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) At World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) is looking for a talented team member to develop and lead the organization’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) response during activations. This position reports to the VP of Relief, and can be based in Washington, DC or work remotely.

This position has overall responsibility for ensuring safe water is available to kitchens, staff, and volunteers so that water-related risks are reduced as much as possible in every activation. This role is critical to ensuring that all teams have access to the best advice, resources, and technologies to enable them to succeed while reducing water-related risks on every activation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build out a WaSH network and team of external roster staff and of allies in North America and globally who can be called upon to re-establish water supplies to kitchens as quickly as possible so that activations achieve their primary objective of feeding people.
  • Enhance World Central Kitchen’s direct and immediate water-related responses by continuously enhancing the water-related technical options available to World Central Kitchen so that staff and volunteers have access to and understand how to use safe water technologies and tactics.
  • Provide direct support to allies and communities as needed/requested by World Central Kitchen leadership to re-establish water supplies, and provide World Central Kitchen a host of options that would ensure the re-establishment of water supplies during the immediate crisis.
  • Build out alliances with utilities, water bottlers and other key actors who can be called upon to contribute to safe water at activations.
  • When needed, travel to WCK activations to assist the Relief Operations in whatever capacity is needed at the time.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in the WaSH industry with 5 years of hospitality/restaurant experience and/or managing large projects.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication/presentation skills.
  • Experience with past WCK activations highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel and join WCK activations.
