JOB CONTEXT:

Humanity & Inclusion has been implementing development and humanitarian interventions in Ethiopia since 1986. Since April 2018, the Somalia program is part of the Ethiopia-Somalia program (EthioSom)

The HI EthioSom program is currently implementing 15 projects in various sectors of interventions, including Inclusive Humanitarian Action, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Protection, Physical and Functional Rehabilitation, Livelihood and Education. The program has long-standing programming in Addis Ababa, Oromea, Somali, Dire Dawa, Gambella and Benishengul-Gumuz. Since 2021, the program has also been responding to the current crisis in Northern Ethiopia, with new bases in Tigray and Afar. The program is expanding based on its 3-years operational strategy and switching from chronic crisis responses to more emergency responses, in order to meet the needs of the most vulnerable and especially people with specific needs.

HI will strengthen the Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP) program’s inclusive practices to ensure meaningful participation and access of women and men with disabilities, a sub-group of the target group of JEOP. The JEOP is a USAID-funded, multi-year food security program targeting transitory food insecure households across Ethiopia. JEOP consortium is led by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and implemented in partnership with six organizations.

To providing technical support and guidance, HI EthioSom is looking for a disability inclusion specialist – Food security for 12 months.

YOUR MISSION:

As Disability Inclusion Specialist, you will work under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager (OM). You will carry out the institutional competencies in Disability Inclusion in a Food Security intervention. You will be in charge of the technical quality and practicality and works in close collaboration with the HI Ethiopia’s technical specialists as well as HI’s Global Technical Specialists from HQ.

In the framework of the JEOP program led by CRS, you’re objective is to provide technical support to strengthen the capacity of CRS and implementing partners’ staff to be more inclusive of people with disabilities. You will follow an inception phase, an assessment and mapping phase, a phase of trainings and revisions of recommendations and a learning phase. You will adopt a technical advisory position towards the partners and ensure participation of persons with disabilities. You will be responsible for completing the deliverables on time (report on Barriers and Facilitators Assessment, dissemination and learning sessions, training documentation and updated instruments and protocols).

You’re main responsibilities will be :

· Build the work relationship and a common understanding with CRS and partners’ teams in conjunction with fine-tuning the Disability Inclusion (DI) consultancy methodology, and the programmatic steps of Assessment and Implementation and an initial set of assessment tools.

· Identify existing working partners, enablers/ DI initiatives with assessment on scalability and the status of remaining gaps/ barriers hindering DI in the JEOP program

· Implementation of trainings and revision of recommendations

· Propose a methodology and adapt it through discussions with all partners in order to have a fit-for purpose participatory learning-oriented approach benefiting each JEOP partner, and the JEOP program in general.

YOUR PROFILE:

· You hold a Master degree in disciplines related to disability studies, occupational therapy, food security, social sciences or development/humanitarian action

· You have at least 4 years’ experience working in disability inclusive humanitarian action, ideally in food security programs in challenging humanitarian environment. You have an experience as a consultant or in a technical advisor position.

· You have an experience in planning and delivering disability inclusion assessments

· You have an experience in technical disability inclusive Food Security advisory and project management (in an emergency context is a strong asset)

· You have an experience in developing engaging and interactive disability-inclusion related capacity building activities, including sensitization and learning sessions (coaching, mentoring)

· You are Pro-active and you demonstrate a high level of initiative, and self sufficiency

· You are able to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels

· You are able to work under pressure and you are resilient to stress and uncertainty

· You show great empathy and integrity

· You are fluent in written and spoken English (Knowledge of Amharic is an asset)

o Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level of your personal monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month ; If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount**

o Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution **

o Repatriation insurance paid by HI**

· Salary from 2750€ gross/month upon experience

· Perdiem: 515.90 € net/month – paid in the field

· Paid leaves: 25 days per year;

· R&R: 1 day per month

· Position:

o unaccompanied

§ Payment for travel costs (air ticket & visa) and transport of your personal effects (from 12 months of mission)

§ Mission of more than 12 months : a child allowance of 100€ per month, per child (from the second child) paid in the field

o open to couples (from 12 months of mission)

§ Support travel costs (air ticket & visa) for accompanying dependent and health/ repatriation insurance if the dependent has no income/

§ Mission of more than 18 months: payment of one yearly additional return flight

o open to families (from 12 months of mission)

§ a child allowance of 100€ per month, per child (from the second child) paid in the field

§ Contribution to school registration fees for children over 3 years

§ Family-wide health coverage

· Payment for travel costs (air ticket & visa) and transport of your personal effects **

· Housing: Individual accommodation possible taken in charge by HI**
