DR 2024 006 | Migration Health Nurse (IOM Clark) At International Organization for Migration

Under the overall supervision of the Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of Sr Migration Health Physician and technical guidance of Migration Health Program Officer (Health Co-ordination), the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable to assist and work closely with the medical team in Clark, Pampanga by ensuring that Quality primary health services are provided in accordance with the accepted guidelines.

Responsibilities

1. Provide assistance to clinicians conducting consultations to diagnose and treat a variety of primary health care presentations. This may include taking patient histories, assisting in basic physical examination, the administration of prescribed medications, and health education.
2. Assist in the initial patient triage during emergency response and referral of patients with severe symptoms or diagnoses to secondary care facilities in coordination with the [insert supervisor title].
3. Ensure thorough documentation of patient care (e.g. vital signs, medication administration, nursing comments, and so on).
4. Assist in routine and mass vaccination campaigns, including vaccine administration, the collection of data related to vaccination, management of adverse events following immunization, and patient education.
5. Assist in the facilitation of health promotion sessions every week on a variety of topics as designated by the IOM Medical Team leader.
6. Assist in conducting inventory of drugs and equipment and reporting any drug stock-outs or low supply of essential medicines and other supplies to the IOM Medical Team leader.
7. Assist in ensuring proper medical waste management at the clinic site(s).
8. Maintain a record of all consultations and ensure the proper collection of data for weekly IDSR and Morbidity reports. All reports should be sent to the IOM Medical Team leader for weekly review.
9. Support adherence to infection-control policies and protocols.
10. Maintain quality standards and confidentiality of individual health information.
11. Participate in training and capacity-building activities.
12. Perform other duties inherent to the position as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Completed university degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current license to practice as a nurse in Philippines
  • Additional qualifications in midwifery are an advantage.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience (including some experience within an outpatient department).
  • Previous nursing experience in primary health care settings in Philippines is an advantage.
  • Experience in emergency contexts and working with international or intergovernmental organizations are advantages.
  • Excellent technical nursing skills, particularly in phlebotomy.
  • Training or working experience in the areas of mass vaccination, communicable disease, and/or laboratory testing.
  • Computer literacy skills required in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access)

Language
REQUIRED
For all applicants, fluency in English and the local language is required (oral and written).

DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of one additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
